I am a dedicated fan of your dirty show. I have tried almost everything short of standing on my head and spitting juju bees (reminsicient of my blurry college years). I cannot get you to answer any of my posts.
I still am sort of new here...and I cannot seem to come up with any new questions...can you please just let me know that you have noticed them...
don't feel bad, there is a lot of us that want his attention, but there is so many that i'm sure he can't keep up Hey, he has been ignoring me too I've been trying to have him come to Puerto Rico and do a "Special" type of show, just like his upcoming 100 show. Anywho, keep up trying but please don't be spitting up juju bees here
Hi Leanne, and welcome. And thanks for watching my little show - I'm grateful. So grateful, that I'm going to use your post as an opportunity to restate my commitment to this board and the fans of Dirty Jobs. I’d also like to spell out a few things that might help with respect to your expectations about posting here, and everyone else’s.
The single most important thing to remember about my personal involvement on this page is my promise to read each and every post directed to me and related to Dirty Jobs. Please note, that "read" and "respond" are very different things. If your goal is to get a personal response, I can make no guarantee. Originally, I thought that answering a certain percentage of posts would confirm to all that I was indeed present on these pages. Now, it seems clear that many people assume their post has not been read if I don't respond to them personally. For newcomers, that’s a logical, but inaccurate assumption, confirming once again The Law of Unintended Consequences. So, as much as I’d like to personally welcome everyone, and wish every five-year old a happy birthday, and meet you all for a drink in my favorite café, I just can’t do it. I’m sorry.
However, if your desire is to critique Dirty Jobs, or comment on something you saw, or shower me with praise or disdain, you may rest easy in the knowledge that you are in the right place, and I really and truly will read your post. Honestly. Swear to God. Promise. Consider it my solemn pledge.
It's important to me, really, really important, that the fans of Dirty Jobs have direct access to the people who put this program together, because, whether you realize it or not, your feedback actually matters. (You might be surprised to know for instance, that your comments concerning a co-host went all the way to the top of the Network. As do your thoughts on every aspect of the show – music, format, etc.) To my knowledge, no other Network offers a more direct and viable pipeline of communication between the fans of a show and the people who produce it than Discovery. And I am 100% certain, that no other host/producer has taken advantage of that pipeline than me. In the words of Frasier Crane, I’m listening. So is production. So is the Network.
No pressure – Dirty Jobs is fun and unscripted, and this page should feel the same way. If it's not fun, it's not worth it. But I want you to understand that this little fan site is a pretty remarkable way to affect the people who literally make a show that you actually watch. That’s very cool, and very rare. Do with it what you will.
Few general things...
Regarding suggestions for Dirty Jobs – please don’t post them here. Post them on the page ingeniously marked “Suggest a Job.” Those go directly to research, and have a better shot at being considered.
Regarding repetitive questions – Anyone is invited to cut and paste my earlier answers to redundant questions. If you ask me a question and someone else uses my own words to answer it, don’t get cranky. If your goal is to get the question answered, this is a solution. If your goal was a personal reply, please reread paragraph two. However, if your question is answered by someone other than me in a manner that is seems officious, patronizing, self-appointed, or supercilious, feel free to take umbrage, and accept my apology in advance.
Regarding my “hotness” – whatever.
Regarding feelings – those who allow themselves to become hurt, angered, upset, slighted, offended, righteous, indignant, affronted, or otherwise insulted are simply in the wrong place. This is a virtual world, and part of the fun in being here is in leaving behind the drudgery of our daily dramas and fragile feelings. As I’ve said before, giving an anonymous person the power to actually hurt your feelings in cyber space is a decision, not a reaction. When trolls appear, or general rudeness occurs, let it play out. All idiots are armed with enough rope to hang themselves. And all response are saved forever. Be nice. Be in on the joke. Let the morons define themselves.
Finally, understand that this is not my board - it belongs to Discovery, and I have nothing at all to do with the policies and rules herein. My own posts have been deleted for reasons I can't explain, and I have no direct control over anything that happens here. If you are baffled by trigger words or random censorship, we have something in common. And if you have come to believe there is nothing to be done about it, then we have that in common as well. It’s part of the price of admission.
Serioulsy Mike - you go well above-and-beyond (well) when it comes to responding on these posts. No disrespect intended to anyone but just by way of comparison, you've got something near 1700 posts up, to Bourdain's 25 (in 2 years). You RULE!

Please, for the love of God, I hope the Discovery Execs saw all the "NO CO-HOST" and especially the "NO FEMALE PERSPECTIVE" posts!!!!!!
Because you want the truth? The show is GREAT just as it is. NO need to change it. No need for a co-host-- Mike is awesome and doesn't need help from anyone. If he needs a "foil," he can pick on Barsky. I'm a chick, so I don't need to see a "woman's perspective" of Dirty Jobs. It is expected that a chick will freak out-- since it is expected, it is neither funny nor entertaining. If she does not freak out, then there is something wrong with her, and it is neither funny nor entertaining.
Mike, thanks for reaching out to your fans and for taking as much time as you do to set us straight. Keep up the excellent work. We all love you (and not because you are HOTTT lol) and wish you every success. And please tell your bosses that they need to leave the show alone-- you're doing JUST FINE.
Wow, I'm feeling a little b*tch slapped and it wasn't even my questions or plea's....but I must applaude Mike on his pleasent way of putting all straight! I've asked a few questions myself and didn't get a response from "the Man" but I did get responses from others and that was some what satisfying. I have found if you go back to the begining of time (meaning pages 122, 123 etc) Mike has answered most of my questions in one fashion or another and that satisfies my curiosity for now! Just my two cents. ~Christine

Thanks for that! As a newbie to the forum, I have been feeling a little lost trying to learn what the 'regulars' long since know - your summation was timely and very welcomed.
Thanks to for your commitment to not 'dumbing down', either on the show or here, I really respect that. And I appreciate you knowing your fans are smart cookies! Too many hosts forget that!
And if you answer one of my posts one day, hey thats icing on the cake - but in the meantime a hearty thanks to everyone out there for shraring the past answers.

i agree with you 100%! you tell it like it is!
Thanks-- but telling it like it is has gotten me into more trouble than I care to mention....
Just wanted Mike to know that we appreciate him, is all. Oh, and for the execs to know that they should never, EVER, bring in a co-host or try to provide a femal perspective. PERISH THE THOUGHT!
Mike, you simply rock, and as always, well said. I don't think there is ANY doubt here --pay attention discovery -- that there doesn't need to be any co-host, (female or otherwise) added to the show. I agree, you want another perspective, ask one of the crew, we are growing to love and appreciate them just as much!
And I believe the just of that was as the great Elenor Roosevelt said "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent" Don't get huffy when someone shares his/her opinion!
