Mr.Rowe, I was in the chat room in the wee hours this morning.Talking about how you have been only answering questions from mostly higher senior members 1,000 or more post, and some from newbies, less than 10.How do you deceide which ones to answer? Is it topic or the people writing them?Or are there members that you past by and don't bother to read?I have written what i thought was a good or good questions.I know i'v not been here long, and i try to share stories about my work when the people you do affect in their lives. And again,i know you will never answer this or care, since i have still been waiting 10 months for a pic.
Kelli...I wouldn't be too upset about it if I were you. He's never answered any of my questions either, but it's OK. He said in another post awhile back that he "sees all", and I believe that. I think he reads a lot more than he responds.
he reads WAY! more than he realys.... lol.. hes a wonder man that he can both post to his fans and have time for friends and family then the TV shows and interviews! the mans AWSOME!
If you read the thread "agree to disagree" I don't think anybody else could have written what he wrote. It's definitely Mike. He just doesn't have the time. I'm sure he feels bad that he can't respond to every post. Don't worry-you'll get yours!!
Kelli...I fished around and found this quote from Mike in another thread, posted in September of '06:
Hi Leanne, and welcome. And thanks for watching my little show - I'm grateful. So grateful, that I'm going to use your post as an opportunity to restate my commitment to this board and the fans of Dirty Jobs. I’d also like to spell out a few things that might help with respect to your expectations about posting here, and everyone else’s.
The single most important thing to remember about my personal involvement on this page is my promise to read each and every post directed to me and related to Dirty Jobs. Please note, that "read" and "respond" are very different things. If your goal is to get a personal response, I can make no guarantee. Originally, I thought that answering a certain percentage of posts would confirm to all that I was indeed present on these pages. Now, it seems clear that many people assume their post has not been read if I don't respond to them personally. For newcomers, that’s a logical, but inaccurate assumption, confirming once again The Law of Unintended Consequences. So, as much as I’d like to personally welcome everyone, and wish every five-year old a happy birthday, and meet you all for a drink in my favorite café, I just can’t do it. I’m sorry.
However, if your desire is to critique Dirty Jobs, or comment on something you saw, or shower me with praise or disdain, you may rest easy in the knowledge that you are in the right place, and I really and truly will read your post. Honestly. Swear to God. Promise. Consider it my solemn pledge.
I don't put quite as much thought into it as you suggest. If I'm near a computer and have a minute, I'll stop by, scroll down, and try to answer a few. There's not much science to it, and nothing fair about it. Usually, I'll spend an hour reading through older posts, but write nothing. My primary goal in being here is not to answer your questions, but read your comments. Trust me Kelli, I've read yours.
The number of posts a person has is meaningless to me, unless it's a very high number over a very short period. I will admit a certain bias to first time posters who clearly take the time to read the FAQ, and ask an original question in a clever way. Sometimes, I'm attracted to longer conversations that are clearly motivated by thoughtful posters with intelligent responses. Other times, I'm more inclined to answer simple, silly questions. I'm moody like that, and make no apology for it.
I shy away from posts that offer effusive praise, very elaborate stories, and what I perceive to be cries for help. When I see words like PLEASE!!, HOTT!!, MUST READ!!!!, or anything with caps and multiple explanation points, I hesitate to respond. There's something desperate about CAPS. When I glance at the page and see the same name appearing all over the place, I think of a person talking too loudly on a cell phone. In a restaurant. Not cool.
To answer your question Kelli, it's not exactly random, but far from calculated.
So, Mike, you mean you pass over all those posts about your hotness?? Yeah, right. <snort>
It will be interesting to see if your comments change the way members post in the future. Maybe your post should be added to the Newbies thread. Laurann?
Liz
P.S. What kind of mood are you in today? You appear to be introspective.
When I see words like PLEASE!!, HOTT!!, MUST READ!!!!, or anything with caps and multiple explanation points, I hesitate to respond
He didnt say he didn't READ them, just doesn't answer.
He might even read them repeatedly, print them out, frame them, compare them to how many Ts Barsky has in "you're hotttt", Use them as floor mats on his Ford. Who knows, but you know he reads them, he is still a guy, no matter how eloquent or sociallly mature, still male.
Where have all the smilies gone??? Pretend there is a smiley face here

Oh I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks that way.
