This pic of the Discovery building was on Entertainment Weekly. Do you see this everyday?

I think it would start to give me the creeps after a few days.

Eek

Ho-lee Carp! Good gravy, that's obnoxious. No, no, and also no.

That's not the Discovery HQ building in Silver Spring. Their decorations are far more tasteful, or at least they were in years past.

We'll get some nice pix at Shark Fest!

Good I'm glad. I have a feeling after the Shark Fest celebration, something like that would cause someone to have a heart attack.

Can't wait for our lil shark party! <does white-girl dance in glee>

Sorry. Don't get it at all. Who is the guy? What is Duane Reed? Why is this funny?

Of all the advertising for shark week...that's what they come up with? Is this some kind of local thing of importance (this guy) where you are Emily?

Thanx,
Tricia

Again...what the hey are they thinking. Brings tacky to another level....
Haven't they learned anything from Mike, plain, simple--can't beat it.

Tricia,

I do not know where that building is located, but I'd guess NYC by the Duane Reade sign and the fancy street light. DR is a drugstore chain (like CVS or Walgreen's) that is big in the Northeast. There are no DRs in the DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia area.

I'm at a total loss to explain why Discovery thinks *THAT* ad will bring eyeballs to Shark Week, and at even more of a loss as to why the building agreed to allow itself to be violated like that.

I think our little Shark Fest function is bringing more eyeballs to Discovery on Tuesday July 29 than that monstrosity, and we're doing it gratis.

Speaking of Shark Fest, I'm still waiting to hear from you, Mike Rowe. We'd love to have you!

Er, that came out all wrong.

We'd be delighted to have the presence of your honor....no, that's all wrong too.

Mike, just let the mods know if you can make it and they can tell me. I know you were here just a couple of weeks ago but I hope you haven't crossed us off your list just yet.

To the Shark Fest attendees, I'll be sending an update soon. To the Shark Fest fence-sitters, just say YES! To everyone who would like to come but can't *cough* Rita, Tracey *cough* we will miss you terribly.

Thank you for clearing that up. I misread the post, thought the building was across from your work. Sorry.

Nope, still don't get it. A drugstore chain has what to do with sharks?

And yes, that is probably the most stupid ad for sharkweek ever. How about a reverse Emmy for bad advertising!

Everyone going to the party. Please enjoy!

Thanx,
Tricia

No just Shark Attacks!

Nicole, that may just be something that is computer generated and not really on the building. They do that all the time in baseball games on tv.

Er, that came out all wrong. Emily"

No it didn't Mike...she means it-)

Go read the comments, they're pretty funny. That thing really is plastered on that building and it's creeping out the guests in the hotel across the street. Razz

I saw that picture yesterday in the latest People magazine. Creeped me out in the magazine, I cannot imagine looking at it on a tall building.

Just one thing, Emily. We don't have to wear wet suits to watch the Shark Week episode, do we?

They're a real pain to get in and out of! Big Grin

Emily,

I am so glad we are not staying across the street from that.

Cherry,

I would never do *that* to my friends. I'm still scarred by the 40+ foot high banner that peered into my room at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square only two weeks after 9/11.

Forty feet of Michael Jackson and his "Invincible" album.

Where is the Shark-Fest taking place?

Is it an actual party someone's having? Or a blog-fest during the episode?

Okay, that ad really freaked me out. What are they thinking? If my oldest son saw that, he'd probably need some therapy. Don't they know that could scare the cr@p out of little kids?
