Anyone watching this on Masterpiece Theater? I just love shows about this era. Judi Dench is wonderful as always. It is so fun listening to the words they use. They spoke so descriptive in those days and were so puritanical. There is a wonderful scene of two old sisters and a young lady about to eat some oranges. The young lady intends to cut and peel hers, but the one older lady excuses herself with her orange to eat it in private. The other sister prefers to make a hole in the orange and svck out the juice. Her sister finds this so offensive that she retires to her own room. The sister tells the young lady her sister doesn't like the word 'svck'. How times have changed, huh?

Hi, Loretta!

I'm not watching (actually, I'm on my way out in a few minutes), but wanted to say "hi" and ask how the weather is out your way.

I heard on the news you're having record warmth (after all that nasty cold) and this is causing the snow in the mountains to avalanche and causing flooding.

Hope where you live you're safe and sound!

Also saw they are cleaning the Space Needle for the first time. Wouldn't THAT have been a good job for Mike, since he likes to h@ng from high places??

Liz, yes, we are having a mini heat wave. Was 86 yesterday and it is 80 right now at 10:30 am! At least our temperatures usually cool down after a day or two. I saw the article in my paper about the Space Needle and almost did a post about it! It does indeed seem like something Mike would do! The Space Needle is certainly something very special around here. There is nothing like driving by on the freeway at night and seeing it standing there all lit up.

Loretta,
The heat wave must be a little disconcerting this time of year. Hopefully it is not a precursor of an extremely hot summer.

Mike might like to clean the Space Needle, but I think Mike has been high in the air quite enough for a while.
He should just stay on the ground for a while....yes....I think I'd like that!!

grasshopper
P.S....How old is the Space Needle??

Maria,

It's in Seattle, WA!

My brother lives north of there (in Everett); that's why I asked Loretta about the weather.

And, remember, there are no dumb questions, just dumb....?!
