"she helped Mike to appear almost competent"

Only a mom can get away with saying that. Mike she's proud of you!

Thanks Bev for posting, really nice article.

Thanks, Bev! I always enjoy reading Mrs. Rowe's stories about Mike. He sounds like he was quite a handful when he was young! Actually, he hasn't really changed all that much. Roll Eyes

Mike, you're very lucky to have such a wonderful mother!

Thank You Bev and Thanks again Mrs. Rowe for a fun bit of reading. I thought said that your first name was Maggie?

I had to laugh out loud with the Christmas present of a pony. I can imagine the look on Mike's face...ha! More poo to pick up and care for.

Lisa, "Peggy" and "Maggie" are both short for Margaret.

Thanks for the link to the article! It was cute and captivating and not nearly long enough! So let me get this straight... Mike didn't get the "dirty" gene, and he didn't get the "horse" gene, and he didn't get the "get married and have kids" gene. He's some sort of anomoly! We should have him tested.

I love horses. They are amazingly beautiful in every way! My lot right now consists of miniature horses topping out around 32 inches, but as time goes by, I hope to move on to some Thoroughbreds or maybe some Morgans. For now, the minis and me are getting ready for winter!

Now if only Santa would put a lovely buckskin mare under my tree....

Din0

PS... Loretta, if I remember right, little brother Phil got the horse gene. At least until he noticed GIRLS.

Nice article. I always love a mom's point of view.

If any of you ever get the chance to go to M. Island try to stay on the Island overnight. Peaceful and nostalgic. The horses are a great part of the experience.

In reading Mrs. Rowe's article, I could only invision the glow of pride she has for her oldest. It was truely enjoyable reading. Please send us some more perils(or I should say pearls)-of-the-past in the life of the Rowe family.

Thanks Bev.

I new I liked her! I have always had horses and now raise Thoroughbreds for Hunter/Jumper. I also have my daughter's medium pony that we bought 12 yrs ago.

Here is another article about the DJ team's return to Mackinac Island (it's the fourth article):

Does anyone else find it amusing to have Dave referred to as "Mr. Barsky?" Smile

Oh, I don;t know Liz. I always call him "Mr. Barsky". "Ms. Barsky" would just be a little too weird....

Nice article from Mrs. Rowe. It's pretty clear that she is very proud of her son.

I've been on the Mackinac Bridge a few times...it's beautiful yet scary at the same time.

Many thanks to Mikey for keeping it real and down to earth. Oh yes, musn't forget Mr. Barsky and the rest of the crew...nice work guys.

Oh no, not at all. It's like when I call Mike Rowe, Mr. Rowe. It's how I see him.

I'm really amazed how liberal Discovery is with allowing a dissection of Mike Rowe mother's article. I think people need to be careful about being disrespectful since she pretty much states that Mike did not love the things she loved as a girl.

I get a feeling that Mike did not enjoy a horse and saddle until the filming of the camel episode.

I don't know Darth. Mike spoke in a recent post or article about going to Boy Scouts camp in AZ a horseback riding. Plus, he's ridden on the show before and looked like he was enjoying himself and was very good at it. Looked relaxed. Or you were being "tongue in cheek"?

debi

BTW, what did you find disrespectful of Mrs. Rowe's article?
