Does anyone else hate Valentines Day as much as I do? I'm thinking of loading a paintball gun with Russel Stover's Chocolates and pelting people with them as they're coming out of the florist today. RON (VALENTINES DAY GRINCH)
Have you been drinking too much coffee again? Ok, go jump on a couch/bed and make faces into the mirror until you calm down. (Just kidding) I think there have been way too many commercials about Valentines day this year. I've gotten pretty sick of it myself. There was a spot on the local news this morning addressing the same thing you are. Not everyone really enjoys Valentines day. The woman suggested doing something special for yourself or contacting a good friend. I think you've now contacted a LOT of good friends. The Russell Stovers thing didn't get mentioned. Kudos for originality. I LOVE chocolate, but don't like boxed candy. Please don't aim them this way. Take care and remember, we love ya!
I think my current state of grumpyness can be helped by buying myself a Toblerone chocolate bar or maybe some Ben& Jerry's Half Baked. It s---- being single on a day that celebrates couples. Oh I just thought of some thing else, Gummy Worms. Mmmmmmm.

I don't particularly get all wound up on Valentine's day either. Its just a day hugely overplayed by Hallmark, Victoria's Secret, Florists, Godiva and restaurants to get extra money during a downswing in sales. I used to work in a mall on V-Day can you tell ha ha. I found it hilarious how men are such last minute shoppers, always the day of or the day before. Card stores with huge lines, lines half way down the mall for Godiva. Every man walking into the card store with either a box of Godiva or a bag from VS. Mother's day is the same way for men...minus the Victoria's Secret.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy those things but really, my hips do not need the chocolate, the flowers die, and I can't get into a restaurant to save my life. I just prefer to celebrate in other ways.

i don't really like valentine's day myself but it's one of those little holidays you have to grin and bear. nobody said i had to be happy about it though. happy valentine's day mike and the crew

Ron, I neither hate valentines day nor love it. It is essentially a non-entity to me. Your post, however, is quite entertaining!

Chocolate and ice cream; universal cures for whatever ails ya.
I don't like Valentine's Day at all.All the girls at my school have been talking about their Valentine's Day Dates.I'm probably the only one who doesn't have a date. Not that I really care.
My Mother is recovering from breast cancer (and doing really well). Her Oncologist actually wrote her a prescription for chocolate. He told her to have all she wanted. I think she still has the prescription. I guess it worked. So far, so good. My OBGYN regularly prescribed Ben and Jerry's or Hagen Daas. Food has amazing healing properties. Have a great day.
Ron,
I went to WalMart to buy my boyfriendless (thankfully) 11 year old daughter some carnations to ease her psyche. I halfway expected to be hit with Russel Stovers as I left, but you missed. I hope the sugar/chocolate rush lifted your spirits.

Hi Jan. My sympathy for your mom and family. I'm glad she's doing well. Breast cancer is one that can be caught early enough for a cure. I hope your mom is in that group. My mom had lung cancer for 15 months before it took her from us. I understand first hand how you must be feeling. She went through it before I ever even thought of med school, so I was still a regular person, not approaching it as a doc.
It sounds like your mom has a good doc, though. I can't think of a medical reason for chocolate, but what is good for the soul is good for the body. I expect to be writing scripts for chocolate and other such things when I'm practicing. I hope your mom has many happy years with her friends and family. May her cancer be in remission for the next, oh, 50 years or so.
