It would probably be an interesting and clean place to visit. If these plants are anything like being in a damn, then everything is contained and you don't really see anything but big machinery. I doubt anyone from the public would see anything like what Mike saw and did there!
I seriously considered this. The facility is right by the river and the views would be spectacular (Although the views from Long Island City or the Promenade in Brooklyn are less odorous!)
If you've seen the movie "Chuck and Larry" w/Adam Sandler and Kevin James..... in one scene they're on the roof of a building as firefighters, arguing. You can see Newtown Creek's "Eggs" in the background. It's fairly close to Rosenwach Wooden Water Tanks.
I live not too far from the oldest and largest wasterwater treatment plant in Los Angeles. It's right across the street from the beach and Pacific Ocean. The only time I have driven inside the facility was to drop off a couple of boxes household hazardous waste. It's definitely dirty and stinky.
There is another water reclamation plant about 15 miles or so from my home. Ahh, but this one has a 6.5 acre Japanese Garden with a 2.75 acre lake filled with treated water from reclamation facility. The garden is kept green and lush with treated water. The facility recycles 26 million gallons per day. Visitors can learn about wastewater reclamation in a beautiful setting. It is one of those hidden jewels in Los Angeles.

... visitors get a Hershey Kiss.
I'm afraid to ask what that means at a wastewater plant.
