I can't believe that they've brought in other host because of poor ratings. I think it is rather the opposite. Maybe the ratings were good and they thought they could boost it even more with a soccer star (now I'm speculating). I am just sorry that they decided to include South Africa in this programming schedule.

It may make no sense to speculate, but I will anyway. I think you're wrong, Mike. Whenever we 'steal' a show from the British, we choose the successful ones ('Changing Rooms', 'What Not to Wear', 'The Office').

I think they 'borrowed' your show because it's good.

On a more serious note…

I think DC made a huge mistake in keeping you out of the loop. Are you not more in touch with what your viewers (they/we are your viewers) want?

Mike, the only thing you have to take responsibility for is the belief in a concept and fervor to bring that concept to fruition. I can’t believe they were motivated by poor ratings. Your show is very popular here. I don’t foresee that this will be the case with the European version, but I’ll let you know in a month or two. One of the things that I like about your show is the fact that I can understand what everyone is saying. Most of the people profiled do not speak English. I think a lot gets lost in translation.

The only stamp Peter Schmeichel put on the show is the fact that he went to clean chimneys in Warsaw in a dress shirt and (what looked like) dress pants. Other than that he tried to emulate you in everything else. Oh yes… the question that everybody wants to ask:

Can he use all your catch phrases without consequence?

Hi Mike,

I really appreciate your honesty here about making an error in judgement at the beginning. That is a difficult thing to divulge - even to closest friends and/or family - let alone here. I know this for a fact because I too have made some errors in judgement that just plain are embarrassing - and I still keep them to myself. I'm not that brave - or is it ego?

Anyway, rest assured being copied by others is only going to make you and your show look better. There is only one Mike Rowe - you deliver best and always will.
