This has been bothering me about for since I saw the episode where they redo the quad. Richard always talks about giving back, etc. He redoes the front yard of the quad and makes a comment about kids needing a place to play. He sees a little kid comming out of one of the units and said something like "that's why we do landscaping so kids can come out and play and not get in the road." I guess that's a real nice thing, but he didn't stop the kid to tell him that he is going to have to move after his parent's lease is up. Ginger comments about the rent for each unit being $1200.00 a month. That's double what they were getting. Bet the renter's loved having to move their families out cause their rent doubled.
Not exactly. The "renters" had lease agreements with an expiration date. As the leases expired the units were renovated and upgraded according to the show.
I am pretty sure they were refferring to the rent climbing after the units are rehabbed, they said they aren't going to do that until the the tennants leases are up. Most leases go up when renewal rolls around.
Yeah, rents go up. But double? I know they weren't kicking the current tennants out until their leases expire. But the writings on the wall for those people. They still have to move or pay double their current rent
Thank you, TLC people, for fixing the login. I complained about it 10 minutes ago and that was a swifty fix.
larkin45, I agree with you. They just re-ran this episode and it disgusts me that someone can neglect a property for 15 years, remember it suddenly, fix it up and double the rent on the place. It should be criminal to treat your tenants like that. Ugh. I hate this show. It just exposes so clearly the shady practices of realtors.
