I've been waiting patiently for this show to come back on ever since it left A&E....HATED the new version over there, too.....

But after three or four weeks, I've removed it from my TiVo schedule. It's not at all the same show. They used to "do" stuff...not just talk to the cameras. I could care less about concession stands, multi-unit condos, etc. I USED to like Richard.

In other words, I miss the old show. Another example of fixing something that wasn't broken or bringing out a new and improved version...NOT.

I wrote this comment in another thread :

I think the reason the format is different is that A&E owns the rights to the concept of 'Flip this House' . If Richard were to put on an exact or 'close to' copy of 'Flip' , he (and TLC) would get sued by A&E . I kind of like the new format though . We get to see more of the inner workings of Team Trademark . I'm sure Richard and TLC will come up with a way to include more of the Flip style of show in time .

We go to Charleston at least once a year for get-away weekends. That town is beautiful and wonderful plus it is full of old homes in need of fixing up. I'd 100% rather watch them do that week after week than hear Richard cuss someone week after week. And, telling an employee to get something done or have their 'G. D.' resignation ready ready by the end of the day isn't interesting to me. I feel like I'm part of someone's privacy being invaded when I see something like that done for the sake of the camera.

I think the way it works is the film crew just follows them around in the day to day business for the most part. So the show in a way writes itself, plot wise. Sure, Richard can incorporate a specific project like the concession stand so that then becomes what the company does in that time frame, and gets filmed. The film crew probably shoots about 100 hours per, and then edits it down to the 44 minutes we see, the other 16 minutes being commercials ; )

the show is totally lame now. the reason it feels like they don't "do" anything anymore is because everything is totally staged. they need to be honest with their viewers and put a "the following is an INFOMERCIAL" warning before each episode. and it's not even an entertaining infomercial.

I think I'll take the word of a guy that has 42 employees, did 2,200 closings in 2006 and $250M gross in 2006 over an anonymous Internet poster. But that's me ; )

Stevetexas, the reply icon on the task bar is better for comments than the reply to comment with quotes choice. Makes for alot easier reading.

I wonder why everybody thinks the TLC show should be just like the A&E show? Things never stay exactly the same, and even if it had stayed on A&E things might be a little different. To grow means to change a little bit, cause nothing can stay exactly the same all the time.
I respect the changes cause in the long run, it is still Ginger and Richard and the gang- without Kev, I guess... miss him.

I was thinking that. If some of the critics of Trademark think it's easy, then why aren't they out there raking in the money via real estate?

Here, here. Agreed it appears that Richard is the real deal and has worked hard for his success and money. "Allot of people like the money they just don't want to do the work for it." Implying that you must work hard to get that kind of money and success.

I love the new show just as much, if not more than the old one! I will never stop watching!

I LOVE " The Real Deal".
The era of " House Flipping" is over, peeps.
The housing bubble has burst in most of the country.
Interest rates are up, making flipping unprofitable.

Notice that when Trademark has a deadline now, it is because they have an open house coming up, or they have to have a house done for the elderly man's 85th birthday, or the concession stand finished for the first home game..

It is NEVER about the interest charges or the cost per day for the sake of the loan costs.
Trademark Properties carries so many properties that it would be laughable to convince the intelligent public that they are engaging in any form of true " house flipping".

They refurbish and rehab. housing, yes, when needed, but they definitely are NOT flippers.

Richard Davis finally has the showcase he deserves. He was never a flipper, and never belonged on " FTH".

The breakaway segments where either he or Ginger are featured talking to the camera about an aspect of the week's project is to inform and educate. Richard feels a strong responsibility to show people that they can do anything they put their minds to if they want to badly enough. He is a role model and a mentor to many young people watching the show.

Some of you may not agree with me on that last point, but I know it's true. Smile

I didn't see anybody implying that flipping is easy -- and I'm surprised people keep jumping to the conclusion that criticism of the show is criticism of Trademark.
As I posted in another thread, I really like Trademark, and I think Richard is a fine, ethical businessman. I'm just disappointed that this new show is sooooo self-promotional that it's like watching an infomercial.
We get that you value "teamwork." We get that you're "successful." We get that your expansion is "exciting." What we're not getting is nearly enough time spent on filming the actual renovations.

Whether the show is intended to be radically different from the old show on A&E or not, the results are the same. This show is just not as good as his other show was. It doesn't matter to me if "flipping" isn't what it was two years ago or not. The show just doesn't grab me like it once did. My significant other, who is a huge Richard fan, hasn't even watched the last two episodes as he said he got tired of hearing the Trademark team blow their own horn.

This past Saturday's show, about the opening of the retail storefront in Charleston, is a perfect example of that. It truly was a "Trademark Infommercial". About the only thing I really like about the new show is the painter...he's a welcome addition to the cast.

Please Richard, before you lose the audience that moved with you from A&E, revamp this show and lose all the cameo studio shots. My eyes just glaze over when I see Ginger or you explaining things.

A fan in North Louisiana

I dont like the new show. It is ridiculous! I only watch it to see how stupid its gotten. Richard Davis has gotten too big for "his britches" and all the people on the show think they are "movie stars" instead of realtors. Maybe if they quit partying they could sell real estate! These people step on anyone to get where they need too, imo

I like the new show. If I want to learn how to frame a house or change out a water heater, I'll watch Bob Villa and his crew.

I agree with previous posters . . .the show really has lost its magic. Instead of being an insightful show that educated and entertained I feel like I'm a viewing pawn in Richard's plan to go "Worldwide". Week after week we are being fed examples of how the Trademark 'family' does great things for their community, when in reality we're just seeing another in the long list of self-promoters that cable tv has to offer. The original show was great, but I guess it's just a memory.

You've missed the point. It's the team's synergy and cohesiveness that make the show something I want to watch. Richard's big heart and Ginger and Dawn's "get it done" attitude make me wish my company was in Charleston. I'd hire them away from him!
