I am a former working mom who recently became a SAHM by choice. I am thrilled I am able to do so, and hope to be able to stay at home until my kids are much older. I have known many working moms out of necessity, and many out of choice. I tend to fall in the camp that one parent (doesn't have to be mom) should stay home if they can, but that generally isn't easy in today's society.
All of that said, I think it is great this show is giving moms a chance to live that fantasy life for a week. BUT in the end, they spring it on the family "Hey mom was really doing this" and then "Here is this fabulous job offer that will significantly alter the course of your family's life forever--let me know your decision in an hour or so." How can any family make a choice that is best for *all* of them in that amount of time? I have only seen episodes where the mom has turned it down, but in tonight's (with the flight nurse), she really seemed to want it, and her husband really seemed supportive, but her kids were in shock. Had they had a reasonable amount of time to work the situation out as a family she may have made a different choice.
Personally, I think it would be fabulous of she could do that, albeit after the two year old was a bit older. With dad as an airline pilot that would be an extremely difficult two-career family it seems. But if they had time to figure it out, maybe they could have done it. It just seems like an unfair "gotcha" built into the show that would cause some serious strife and heart-ache for all family members.
