I confess I haven't watched the show, but had to chime in with all the comments about daycare being such an awful thing for kids.
Kids are different and parents are different. The same things don't have to work for all of them. Daycares also vary in quality. Some of them are fabulous. My daughter is 2.5 and loves going to "school." She comes home happy and ready to share about her day with us. My husband and I are also both happier people when we have time away from home pursuing our own work and interests. We both have to work for financial reasons, but I love my work and would choose to work even if I didn't have to.
The sad thing is that our society does not value providing quality affordable daycare. Kids can thrive in the right daycare situations. There is nothing wrong with kids having caregivers in addition to their mothers, fathers and other family members! In fact, it can be a wonderful thing for kids to see that they have a community beyond their home that cares for them and of which they are a part.
