So, I was one of first to make a comment in this forum and that was over three weeks ago. Since then I have visited now and then, out of curiousity (when my children are tucked in bed). At one piont I even decided that I would no longer visit, but couldn't let these thoughts rest without putting them out there. The conclusion that I have come to is this,
If you are comfortable with the desicion you have made as a mother, whiether it be SAHM or WOHM then you have no need to defend that desicion. If you know that your children are happy, and loved, and that they are well taken cared of then that is what is important. If you can honestly say that your children know that they belong to a loving home, a home that is their sanctuary and safe place, a place where there is nothing but peace and love, then that is what is important.
I am currently a SAHM, but pervious to that I worked as a preschool/daycare teacher and also a live in nanny to a SAHM. I have many years under my belt and education in regards to childcare and have come to the conclusion that every child is unique, every family is unique, but the fact that will never change this: Children thrive on love, the happiness and well being of a child depends on all sorts of people loving them and supporting them. It is imparitive that children live in an environment that is filled with encouragement, stability, and learning opportunities. This environment can be found in a home with a loving mother and it can also be found inside a proper childcare facility. Of course, you will always be able to find examples of daycares that are less than desirable, but you can also find examples of homes that are far from perfect as well.
Before anyone continues defending themselves for the desicions they have made, stop and ask yourself, "why do I feel the need to." I know that I will no longer defend my choice to stay home, because I don't feel the need to. For me and my family it works.
Take a moment to reflect, when you have the time. Maybe it is when your children are safely tucked in bed, truly think about their happiness. If you feel they are in the best possible place and as happy as they can possibly be, then great! Now forgot about this forum and be content.
One final word. I once heard from someone I truly respect, "All the sucess in the world can not compensate for failure inside the home." Everyone jugdes success by different measures, but one ruler that will never fail, is your children's behaviour and your own mother's intutition.

Amen Sister! I am a "SAHM" and I've tried to maintain both sides of the fense. But no matter what I was being attacked. You are so right in saying that this forum does not desearve the thought I've given it. I have a true heart for all moms. I just wanted to let moms know there are so many groups out there to belong to that are productive for the SAHM and the WOHM.
This will be my last post. And my last visit to this site. I am proud of the decision I made for my family. It doesn't matter what others have chosen or think about my decision.
