I am bearing my soul on the internet and dont know why. First let me say to the all the Vietnam Vets I am sorry. PTSD is real. Since I have been back from Iraq I have been lost. My family doesnt understand, everyone thinks I am a hero, and all I am is a soldier.I have one wish. That the boys from OCC make Purple Heart Bike in Honor of SPC Sandrell. He was the soldier that got severely hurt the night we were ambushed. I blame it all on my self. I wrote the below poem. To all read.......
“I Believe From a Soldier” by SFC Williams Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran June 03-May 04
I believe we are warriors not pacifist. I believe we are given missions to complete. I believe we are soldiers with a values system. I believe we are professionals. I believe we are protectors of this countries freedom. I believe we are willing to give our lives in this countries defense. I believe we do the hard right instead of the easy wrong. I believe when called to duty, you fulfill your duty. I believe in one shot, one kill. I believe we make friends of our enemies or destroy them. I believe we train like we fight. I believe that someone with a bomb strapped to them is a combatant. I believe that I will help all those in need. I believe soldiers are trained to win wars not referee them. I believe in our pledge of allegiance. I believe we are peacemakers not peacekeepers I believe that we should do what ever it takes to keep this country safe!
PS. I sold my Harley to put my kids through private school just so they could pray in school
SENIOR YOU ARE MY HERO

SFC Williams, hero is just a word, you know who you are and what you did. Of course friends and family are strangers to you, unless someone has walked the walk, they can't feel what you feel or think what you think. I have found that joining a military type forum can be very helpful, you can sorta stay in touch with our reality. We share the guilt of many things, that fact will follow you to the grave, there's no way around it. You can get some help from the VA, but drugs in my opinion aren't the best answer. I plan on going to the Vietnam Wall on the 17th of next month for the first time, my 1st Sgt's name is there and I want to protect it from Jane Fonda and her crowd. This will be therapeutic for me, but there will always be ghosts from the past. RVN 69-70-71 EOD
