I have several but I think that the most painful place was my underarm followd closely by my ankles. It doesn't matter where you chose to get it they all hurt the same and the pain shouldn't keep you from getting one in one place over another

I got a tattoo on the bottom of my big toe. People thought it would hurt a lot, but it didn't. I almost didn't even feel it, just the coloring in part hurt a little. But it did go away in a month! It was fun while it lasted

Your tattoo was gone in a month?

In all of the places I have been inked- upper arm, ankles, wrist, shoulder, back, lower back the place that "hurt" most was the upper arm- as it wraps around underneath.

ya, it was gone in a month because any tattoo on the bottom of your feet or hands will go away. Your skin replenishes iteslf a lot in those areas. I got a hibiscus, it was cute, but it didn't last. I didn't want it to. The artist warned me that it wouldn't stay, and that was the point.
So if your not sure if you should get a tattoo or not, get one on the bottom of you foot or hand, then if you want one that will stay do it later.

Hello fellow ink fanatics, The place I find that hurts the most mmmm, is there such a place?. ha!ha!ha! Having the outline of a tat done close to ones spine would have to be the spot for me. Has anyone else experienced this? Or am I just being a girly girl about this?

Pops here.
I have tattoos almost all over my body..
In about three weeks I'll be getting a piece done on my ribs. I hope that I'm not too big of a baby. I did see a young lady almost pass out when she was getting her side done, but then I saw a fellow that was getting his feet do the same.
Ribs and feet could be a tie!
Let me say I will never get my feet done.

The back and underside of my arm hurt. Also the center of my chest right on top of the breast plate was bad. The wif has one around her ankle and on her foot. She said the back of her ankle across the achillies(I have no idea how to spell that) tenden hurt the worst.

I have my whole lower leg done, and the closer my tattooist got to my ankle bone the more it hurt. He says it's cuz there's more nerve endings where there's bone that's closer to the surface with less flesh to cushion the bone. Yowch. It hurt, but it wasn't unbearable. Just breathe deeply. You can handle it.

I have 2. One on my lower back and one on my foot. the one on my back was surprisingly not too painful. The one on my foot was excruciating. It didn't help that the people in the tattoo parlor were watching the movie "SAW" as I was getting it done. All things aside, I would do it again.

I got a tattoo on my lower back. It was pretty painful when the artist did the outline. This is the only tattoo I have so I can't compare it to other places. But I was so nervous about the pain so I was very tense. I started having a cold sweat and then I passed out. The artist poured a cup of cold water on my head and gave me ten minutes to relax. After that I was able to relax my muscles and the rest of the tattooing went much better.

I have 5 tattoos from the knee down (as well as alot of others in various places), and the most pain was from mid way down to my ankle. But actually the more he worked the more the area became "numb" and did not hurt as much. The only other one that hurt any was my portrait and it was close to my side. The hair and beard were killers!! But it is well worth it and I am getting ready to go for a Star Wars tattoo. Just make sure you get somthing you love.

All 3 of mine are on my spinal cord, but the one at the very top of my spine (back of my neck, at my hairline)... Wow! That was a doozy! Of course it won't stop me from getting more, but that was a beast!

I currently have 9 tattoos with numbers 10 - 13 already planned out and I would have to say without a doubt the Neck area has to be the worst and 2nd for me had to be the inside of my left bicep(Lrg Dragon)

depends where on the foot? tops of the foot don't hurt too too much in my opinion, i felt only kinda like pain when he hit a nerve kinda feeling... now when you are talking about the bottom of your foot, that's another story to survive, lol... hurts like hell and back again...

I got my first tatoo on my foot when I was 15. It didnt really hurt that bad for me, but alot of people say that your foot hurts alot. I think mine might not have been bad because its so small, and its near the bottom of my foot(by my toes kind of). I think the part of the foot near the ankle, would hurt real bad.

hey...i'd have to agree with the neck. It was almost unbearable. I usually chat away during the session and I don't think I said a word the whole 3 hours. My inner wrist hurt a lot but I think it's because my veins are so raised. My lower spine hurt too but it was ok. i just find anything painful after about 5 hours...espicially if it starts to swell. Just went through that on Friday.

I've got many in different areas, and I thought the inside and backside of the arm were the worst. Man, was I wrong! Just got my latest finished. Runs down the side of my torso from underarm all the way to the top of my thigh. The rib cage and stomach are a killer. I went from a person who could go 5-8 hours at a time with no problems to only handling 3 hours and puking two hours later. Fist timers, stick with the upper arm or upper side of back-piece of cake!

Well...My least painful place was my wrists. The most painful place was my achilles heel. I have a pink flamingo no bigger then a 50 cent piece right on the side. 10 minutes into the 20 minute tat I was ready to call it quits and leave with what he had already done. But he convinced me he was almost done. So I let him finish. Never again!! And this coming from one who has 11 tats.

I think it depends where you get it. When I went to get my first tat on my chest in memory of my sister, I was told it would hurt like crazy. Whike getting it, a crowd had crowded around to see if I was real or a manniquin, I never moved or blinked. My second one is on my right shoulder blade, my husband had a friend go with me to make sure the guy was doing everything right. That one didnt hurt either but then I have a high tolerance of pain. The pain after the second one came when it was healing....lol I had my sons intials added to it and now I am going to get my daughters intials and thinking of having thier birthdates added.

I have tats on my back , upper shoulder, both forearms, on the top of each foot, on the ankle and chest in the middle .. ( yes I love my ink) and by far the one on my chest hurt the most you could hear and I COULD FEEL the needle hit my breast bone . that one was for my father that past on tho so the pain was all worth it ( it is a blue heart with trible wings that go around the top of both breast figure I will hold him close forever) ...

Small of my back hurt the most, this is obviously different for everyone though. I read another post that said that close to the spine was painful, I have to disagree, I thought that was fine higher on my back, but lower hurts. I think any "fatty" areas hurt more too. I actually enjoyed getting my shoulder tattooed, I would recommend the shoulders for beginners, they are also less likely to stretch later on in life!

The worst place for me was my eye. I had permanent eyeliner tattooed around my eyes, and it was so painful I had to keep asking her to stop every few seconds. It is so painful they require you to get a prescription for a local skin numbing cream, but the numbing effect disappears quickly, and you cant reapply, so you end up in sheer torture. I am NOT kidding. I went through this twice because it faded after a few months. After it faded the second time I said forget it..........the pain was NOT worth it for beauties sake. The second most painful was the lower back on the spine. Tolerable but very painful.

I have a butterfly on my ankle, and it didn't hurt that bad, until he got closer to my ankle bone, then my leg started jerking. The one I have on my back was not bad at all.

My Vote....The rib cage hurts the most, with right down the spine at a close second. But who knows maybe I'm just either too slim and boney or girly.

Tatqueen......I have one on my lower back, and YES it hurt like hell! I wanted to take a break and Rob, my tattoo artist, told me "Missy, you know that taking a break is not good, it will just hurt again when we start", that was after the outline, but I did get a glass of soda and came back quick, only to find out that the coloring didn't hurt that bad. Rob was shocked and kept stopping and asking me, " Missy, are you ok?" and all I could say was, "Yes Rob, just do it! Just tattoo me". Rob busted me about it for a long time. But 2 months later I got a tat between my shoulders, center of my upper back, and that wasn't bad at all.

When I got my tattoos they didn't hurt... I tend to have a really high pain tollerence, and for me, getting tattooed feels like kind of an orgazmic feeling...call me wiered, but it's also kind of a stress reliever for me... I got my first tattoo on my B B, and i was told by this girl that already had a tattoo on her B B that it would hurt... well it didn't, and after the first tattoo,i was hooked!!!

The tattoo on my lower abdomen really hurt for me and I have tattoos all over. Then again it depends on the detail and place...mine is right in the spot where my belt sits sn where I bend...so that hurt for me...the touch up hurt even more.

I have a tattoo on the inside of my bottom lip. People think that would hurt but it really didnt, there wasnt even any swelling.
As for the most painful spot.. I think I will have to say that any spot the sunlight doesnt get to is going to be more sensitive and also directly on bone. My worst is on my upper left leg, outter thigh area, but it really all depends on the artist.

i have 16 tattoos and the one that hurt the worst was the band around my upper arm. i, too, usually gab away with my artist, but that day, juno told me lots of stories and i spent alot of time breathing DEEPLY. i did it once and i never shall again.
the ones on my wrists were second but the one that surprised me was the one on my neck. i expected it to hurt like H-E-double toothpicks. you'd think so right? thinking of the lightest touch that registers there.
i had a simple stylized utjat done and during the process, juno lifted his hand off my neck and i literally didn't feel anything at all! not even the vibration of the gun. made me wish i'd done something much more complex!

people told me the place that hurts the most is the ribs. i got one on my side which is also my ribs. but that didn't hurt as much as my ankle. the worst part was there, only because its only bone. so its like scrapping ur bone. well at least for me it was.

I've heard that the closer to bone it is, the more it hurts. Mine's on my hip, and the top part hurt more than the bottom part. My artist said that the "love handles" area is very sensitive as well.

I have a tattoo done on my lower back and towards the end of the two hours it hurt the most. Especially this one time i remember it felt like the needle was digging into my bone. Well my tattoo artsit, Rod was tattooing me one of the other tattoo artist walks by and asks Rod if he was even tattooing me.
I personally think the collar bone would hurt the most. I cant say I have had it done because i only do have one and that one wont br my last.

I got my first tattoo on my ankel...it was crazy pain...but it was done by an amature...my next one was on the back of my neck...no pain at all...and my third one on the top of my foot...again no pain...I plan to get one on my lower back in October or November...but I think as long as the person doing it has more than three months experience you should be okay! The last two guys I went to had twenty-five plus years experience! They rocked! Ciao!!
