The one that wrapped to the back of my knee, my dragon, was probably my most painful. I was expecting it to be easy, like the ones on my lower legs, but that back of the knee thing wasn't a great feeling. The tattoo turned out awesome, though.

I just got back mere hours ago from getting my 2nd tattoo. It's just above my ankle on the side of my leg (devil hello kitty). That one sure tested my patience! I went last wendnesday to get my first: A simple black design at the base of my neck on my back. That one was a cake-walk compared to my ankle! But I had better prepare myself: I'm having a custom 1/2 sleeve made up, and I go in on the 30th of August! I think the inner arm is going to take the cake in pain! I'm tuff... I can do it. I hope Wink

So far I only got one, and it was on my ankle, it was originally suppose to go over part of the top of my foot but my artist recommended I move it higher. And I am so grateful for that, getting one done on the ankle bone is so painful, and to think if I had gone more on the foot I might not have been able to handle it, but its all up to your pain threshold, I knew it was going to hurt but the way it look on my ankle makes it sooo worth it, so when you're getting one done, don't worry about the pain until you're in the chair, the pain may be bad at the moment but it will fade and you'll be left with this amazing piece of art on the part of your body that you really want it done on, trust your gut or heart withever lol
good luck

I'm thinking about a foot tattoo...so far I have a floral swirl that has crossed over from left pelvic bone hip across my back and over my right shoulder..all of this was nothing...I mean I have not one horror story of pain to tell...whew!!! I'm considering a foot tattoo...I'm also going in Thurs for a complete touch-up on my piece!!! When you all go in for things and are also considering other placements for work..have your artis do a couple of inkless lines on your next spot..that way you know if you can hack it!!! That's what I'm doing...it it's excruciating...NO WAY!!! Not in it for pain here.

For me, it was the opposite case. Ok, the internal part of the elbow hurted, but in the other part..the needle was constantly hitting the bone, the pain was serious, I was about to faint.

Another place that hurts is the internal part of the arm, but not as much as the elbow.

I had my left foot done yesterday..It was my first tattoo and it hurt soooo bad!! Eek Thankfully I have no plans for anymore tattoos as that one was to memorialize my brother.. I definately would never suggest the foot to anyone.. I thought I had a high pain tolerance until yesterday LOL

The area about three quarters down your back towards the rib cage, but not quite the rib cage has been the most painful for me. I guess I would have to draw you a picture to help you understand. Ouch. However, they all have hurt, but they all have been worth every second of it.

THE RIB CAGE IS BY FAR THE MOST PAIN FULL .... BUT DONT LET THE PAIN OF THE TATTOO CHANGE YOUR PLACEMENT.. IF THATS WERE YOU WHANT IT GET IT....!

It seems like everyone has a different opinion of what hurts the most. I wouldn't let the pain stop you. Does anyone have their wrist tattooed? It seems like a place where it would feel kind of funny.

I have a tat on the back of my neck that goes up to my hair line down to my lower neck and coversthe back of my neck. I also have one on the side of my calf, my wrist and my hip. I would say without a doubt that the neck hurt the very worst. THen I would have to say the wrist.

I have one on my wrist and about five hours worth on my back.

The wrist has been the most uncomfortable so far. Luckily, I had an artist with a fairly light touch. I only winced once (when she was closest to my hand), and the rest of the time was spent chatting. In my experience, it's one of those strange areas that feel as if the tattoo artist is in a different location than they really are (ie. still on your wrist, but feels like they're in the middle of your hand).

My back was nearly painless. The only time the pain snuck up on me was when he was directly over my spine.

Honestly, in my time on this earth, I have never met a person who experienced so much pain that they refused to ever get another tattoo.

No matter the pain, go forth and be inked. It's one of the few things no one can ever take from you!

If I would have read this the other day, I would say the underside of my arm by my armpit....

Just last night I started my chest plate and I would say that the sternum is the winner. Around my nipple and over the collar bone tickled a bit too.

I only have one tattoo, and it's on my lower back. It's err.. a little bigger than a CD case (If you're wondering size) and the only time it really hurt was;
a) When he was doing the tiny, thin-lined hearts
b) When he was right above my bum.. that layer of skin there? It's hard to explain, but I cringed a few times.

It's hard to say though because as everyone's already said, it really depends on the person, and pain tolerance, etc.

I have multiple tattoos on various parts of my body, I found that my back piece was the most painful, mostly around the ribs near the side of my body, and right up the spinal cord, which was also somewhat painful. Ny back took just a hair over 65 hours under the gun, over several sessions. The tat stretches from side to side, and from the top of my shoulders down to just slightly below my beltline. I have a tribal snake on my shin, and that was fairly painful. I have decided, at least for me, that the less muscle (read: more bone), the more it tends to hurt.

It's all about the PAIN. The ink is just a souvenir.

Seriously, the back of my knee was the worst place. I've got 7 tatts and that was the worst.

I have a band around my left wrist with barbed wire running inside of it. The inside of the wrist was major pain.

Well as we have all read, it really depends on the person getting the tat. I have 7 tats and the most painful area for me so far has been the lower back and on my sides. I was blown away to find out that it could also be arousing when getting a tat in certain areas.

Well, I haven't posted since I was thinking about a foot tattoo. Dec15 got the right foot done...not a big deal so I got the other one to match....that one hurt only because I was really sick. Both go across the foot from under the small toe on a diagonal sweep around the ankle and on the left on to the lower calf somewhat...that part really caught my attention!!! Felt like getting cut. I know it hurt because I was sick because Sat I went for the full on touch-up and nothing...easy sit. So for me feet... no biggie...perhaps onto the ribs...nah just kidding.

well i noticed alot of people were comparing the foot with inside wrist i hav both n recently got my rib cage/lower hip.... the foot (1st tatt) i thought was not bad compared to the ribs(3rd tatt) the wrist(2nd tatt) cake walk...but you have to look at yourslf everyone is different with pain girls are said to be better with pain because of child baring or watever then the tattoo artist he could have a light hand or a heavy hand! and the size of the tattoo, the place its going and color feels different then writting/lettering! i believe the color hurts more but i know people that say the outline hurts more!

Yeah, like someone said above, the part right by my armpit was very painful. On my spine almost made me pass out, but it wasn't necessarily very painful, if that makes sense.

I find anywhere where there is nothing much between the bone and skin is most painful, also under the arms close to the armpits... Auh!

Well, I have 4 tat's so far. I have one on my foot...walk in the park, one on my right calf...it stung a little bit, one on my left shoulder blade, i didn't even know he was working on it till it was done. The one I have on my lower abdomen however, was 3-1/2 hours of pure PAIN! I won't ever get another on my stomach area again. This one was worth the pain because it means the most to me, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. But, that's just me!

Hi! I am one of the very few people in my family who does not have a tattoo and I am about to get my first one. I am scared to death of needles and I am now very good with pain so I am nervous. The tattoo I want is on my foot and if that goes ok I want another on my wrist. Do you all have any advice? Do you think I will make it through? Thanks Eek

I've heard that getting a tattoo on the palm of the hand doesn't exactly tickle either.
