this is probably a complete blonde moment but I was wondering because the ink is wet when it goes in the needle and into your skin, once the tattoo heals does the ink become dry in your skin or is it still wet? my tattoo artist is stumped on this too.
Well I just asked my tatman and he tells me that it stays wet and shows through the skin...it does not change the pigment. So we learned something new today! Hope this helps... I didn't know either! Take care!
The needle puts the pigement into the skin... not atypical to go down three layers... don't confuse injecting ink pigment into the skin with dying (or coloring) the skin like you would color hair.
The ink is put three to four layer down because that is where the melanin is located which is what gives everyone their natural skin color. The ink attaches itself to melanin and alters it's make up which is why the color is permanant. If you get a small wound in your ink you will heal back the color of the ink. You may have a small light spot but it will heal back to the color and your artist can easily touch it up.
