I had a friend who was allergic to the purple ink. She had Mickey mouse with different colors around him. Unfortunatly she didn't relize she was allergic to the purple ink. When you look at her tattoo only in the purple sections she has tiny red bumps, but the rest of her tattoo is smooth. weird?! Sometimes she says it is really itchy in the purple areas but she just lives with it..

Again, another uneducated response, stop it you guys! Most reds used for tattooing today are fine unless they are made with mercury or have an acrylic vehicle dispersion. What stich said about blue ink is totally untrue and irresposible. All blues used in tattooing today come from the phthalo family of blues, same with green, very innocious color hue. Although many brands are using acrylic based inks that can cause reactions no matter what color is used.
Cheers, August, owner Skincandy inks, and yes,it's the stuff they use on the show!

August-

Miami Ink uses Skincandy ink on the show. If you want to buy ink, go to skincandy, the best ink in the world is skincandy, blah, blah, blah, blahfrigginblah...We get the point, you can quit advertising on every thread you find. This is not a billboard or an ad campaign, it is a social chat room.
Thanks

Whatever dude. Kudos to you skincandy. It's nice to have someone here who actually knows what they're talking about and is willing to share it with the rest of us.

Skincandy - Just because inks are made differently today doesn't mean that people still can't have allergies to them.

Did I say anything about keeping expert advice to himself? NO...I simply stated that the advertisements for his line of ink are getting old. Read and understand before you speak.

He made mention of his company once at the very end of his post. I don't think it's going to kill you. Chill.

so I got some input to this red ink allergy deal, I searched the net wondering about this and found this forum....I habe 3 tattoos, 2 with color and some of the color is a pinkish-magenta-ish and I the healing process of the tatts was a easy as could be.....BUT twice now when I went out to clubs I got a stamp to get in with red ink and each time I got a bad rash that is basically the identical shape of the stamp....most recently I had a smiley face rash on my hand.....its weird....so maybe the red ink doesnt gotta be in your skin...just on it...???

I am currently going through allergies related to the red ink in my tattoo, keep in mind that alot of colors have red tones such as brown. All the red ink on my tattoos are raised and of course they are sensitive to sun and tend to raise and get puffy when I am in the sun or when I get done working out. I had some of my tattoos for over 2 years until this happened so you may not know right away if you are allergic to red , it can pop up after a few years and react in a wild manner one day with out notice. I have done the steriod pills rountine and even the steroid cream (very strong), it helped but did not actually cure it. I have now upgraded from my family Dr. to a dermatologist and they took skin samples and are currently running tests, hopefully an antibiotic will cure my problem, if not them they will use cortizone shots in the affected area and if that doesnt work than they will have to laser off my red ink, this is alot of work because I have sleeves on both my arms. Well, I will try to remember to keep this blog updated.
