I got my tattoo in 1990 with a group of girls. We were all just travelling and playing hard at the time. We stumbled on a Tattoo place in Calgary, AB and we all went in to get "tood". I asked they guy behind the counter where on the body it would hurt the very least - he said the top of the arm, like where you would be a booster shot. So, that's where it is...a very cool YIN-YANG symbol. Now, in retrospect, I wish I'd gone for a less public, more private spot...like anywhere else! MY TIP: don't put the too anywhere you don't want your CHILDREN to see it and think it's cool.
Hello,I have 10 yr old son, and a 5 yr old daughter, that just love tattoos, he can't wait to be 16 so we can go and get tattoos together. I have 4 tattoos.
Hello happy_janie I am a little baffled towards your closing comment. As to why such a hip mom such as yourself would not want your children to see your tattoo. I myself have four coloured tatoos. One is a small "t-shirt size" sleeve, an armband on the other arm and two on my back. During our warm summers they are always in plain sight to my children. However I do cover them wih short sleeves when going out in the sun. Out of my three children only one shows any interest in actually getting one. I have always explained to them that I was thirty five when I had my first one and the reasons why I wanted them. The tattoos that is not the children ha!ha!ha! Personaly I hope they wait awhile before they decide to get inked. Reason being from the age of nineteen to thirty one evolves quite a bit. However if they really wanted one before the age of thirty I would want to be there. To give him/her guidance as to what to look for in a potential tattoo studio and all the important qustions to ask etc... What do think on this?
My oldest son (10 years old) is constantly talking about tattoo designs he wants--most he will not want when he's older. My youngest (almost 6) doesn't say he wants a tattoo--he wants to be a tattoo artist. When he colours in his colouring books he always says he's "practicing to be a tattoo artist" lol I love it My oldest is autistic though and I highly doubt he will ever be able to sit through getting a tattoo. We'll see.
Don't be too sure on that erniewho. I've got a friend that was autistic and the day he turned 18 he went and got a hyena tattooed on his upper arm. I'm not sure on the extent of your son's autism, or his personality, but my friend seemed to love it.
Your comment about not wanting your kids to see your ink baffles me. Why would you be ashamed that your kids might see it? I think someone getting inked would not care who does or doesn't see their tattoos. I have a few on my back and am planning on going back for a lot more. When I do have kids someday, I hope they think that I'm just as cool having the ink, and maybe someday might want one. I would gladly pay and go with my child for their first tattoo, so long as they realize that yes they are permanent, and wait until they are legally old enough to have one.
Why would she get inked if she didn't think it was cool. Besides, regardless of whether she's got ink or not, her kids may get some eventually anyways. How is it not cool for your kids, but a good idea for you?
