People 'say' many things about my tattoos, and it doesn't bother me at all. What really ticks me off though, is when they look at me with disgust, or when they just stay staring at me with this sort of "Eek" look on their faces. I try not to pay much attention, but sometimes I feel like asking them what the "H-E-double hockey sticks" are they looking at! Mad!!!
Another thing that really bothers me, is when they start asking if they could touch it, like if it's not enough just looking at it! I don't mind if their admiring it, or they want to touch them, cause they don't believe my tattoos are real( they're very colorfull, and look some what fake when I put lotion on them, they shine)...but if someone's gonna tell me that tattoos are gross, or look at me in disgust, then touch my tattoos... uh, excuse me, I DON'T THINK SO! I mean come-on, have a little respect, I'm a person no different from them, and having tattoos doesn't make me a lesser person, stupid, or an ALIEN! Eek Confused***
Anyway, that's what ticks me off... what "turns your milk sour" about the way people gawk at you?... common, you know you wanna let it out Wink!

You have the support of us other ink addicted tattoed people. We love our tattoos and it is a personal journey that we have or are going through. Tattooes are an art and although a lot of people still are on the outside and unsure where they stand on tattooes I find that most people are intrigued and ask a lot of questions. I love my tattoes and will be getting many more over the next couple of years. Let them look, let them gawk.

That's similar to what pregnant women say, strangers come up to them and want to rub their tummies, like they're Buddha or something.

Mine is pretty small and covered most of the time, so most people don't have a chance to comment. It's a geminii symbol, so I usually get something like "Why do you have roman numeral two on your a**?" Razz

I feel ya.
I don't mind people looking if they are interested, but when you get a close look...don't touch!!! how the heck are you gonna touch my leg and move your hand up and down it as if it's gonna fall off! I get upset when people do that and i tell them how much i don't appreciate it.

When i got my first tattoo i was looked at differently. I cover it up most of the time but i sometimes wear something that shows it off and people looked at me weird like i'm from another planet. My aunt was almost ignoring me and always stuck her nose up at me. The first thing she said when i told her i got a tatt she automatically said '' Well, i hope she doesn't get addicted and get more tattoos'' and kinda stuck her nose in the air and i was like whatever

I get angry when tattooed people are considered criminals and the police look at them and watch them more than people who don't have tattoos..

I love my tattoes. When I got my first tattoo everyone was like he got a tattoo. He is so straight laced. Well I am still straight laced and am working on my fourth tattoo now. I love them. My kids enjoy my tattoo especially the one that has their initials and dates of birth. Tattoos are a part of me and I enjoy them. We should all be proud of our tattoos. Enjoy yours.

The thing that some peolpe don't understand is that most tattooed people are actually SMART, and sometimes maybe even smarter than they are!
My grandmother is always going off at me about my tattoos, and she used to ask me if "that's" what I was going to become, like if I were becoming an animal or something... so when I told her that I was going to college, I also added..."AND YES, I AM BECOMING SOMETHING!"...
my tattoos are big, but I have them where I can hide them, in case I have an important interview or something. But other then that, I love showing off my tattoos, because they're not just pictures on my skin, they're a part of me, and I feel that without them, I wouldn't be 'complete'!
I love it when people tell me "what is your kid gonna think of you, when he's older, aren't you scared that he'll be 'ashamed' of you"... my response... My son loves my tattoos, and if anything, he'd be proud to have a mom that has taught him to express his feelings through love and art, and not hate and crime!
Oh, I love my world Big Grin

I have found that when strangers come up and attempt to touch my tattoos it is helpful to start talking about how they'd be the perfect size for my freezer chest in my basement. They seem to walk away very fast.

Now if it's a hot woman, then she can touch away. Wink

tattoo-b,
I think that if my husband ever saw another guy touch, or even attempt to touch one of my tattoos, he'd break the other guys arm off... he also has the look of a guy who can hold his ground, so I think that's why guys don't touch them... it's mostly nosey women, who are probably p.m.s.ing, and want a reason to pick a fight with another girl... and who better to insult, than a female with ink, right!? Smile
but I'm not to be taken lightly though... come at me with a smart a$$ coment, and I'll come at you with a smart a$$ answer Wink, that's what I always say to them Big Grin. he, he, he! Big Grin

One of my all time faves is when people ask if they are real. I look them right in the eye and say "Nah, they're iron on's". Man, it's amazing how many people believe that one.

Tb,

I liked your sharp retort on the "Are they real?". Can't tell you how many times I'm asked that very same #1 question. After they realize that they're real. Next comment is "You don't look the type to have a tattoo!". It seems I just can't win with the public!

TQ,

I get the "you don't look like the type" also. Then when they find out that I'm a Harley Owner/Rider they almost poop in their panties.

Tb,

You have ink and a Harley! Oh you lucky little ink pot on two wheels! I don't own a bike but I have a passion for them. My father in his younger days always rode a BMW. He likes bikes but not tattoos. hehehe Wink

TQ,

I ride the open road as much as I can. It's the closest feeling to flying that I have found.

Getting inked comes in a close second for great experiences in life.

vic,

I liked your response! I'll have to remember that one for next week! When I'm asked AGAIN! Smile

Tb,

The closest "feeling to flying" for me. Would have to be when I parachuted and bunjee jumped. Only did that once though. Once was enough!! Smile

I've done the sky diving thing a few times, never bunjee'd though.

When people found out I was going to skydive they asked "why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?".

I then asked them if they've ever seen a mechanic working on an airplane Cool

I have hardly had anyone say, why did you have that done to your body? They do ask to see my one ,its on my chest and kinda peaks out , so then they ask to see it. I tell them it has my kids names on it and then maybe a head shake but thats about it. I do get asked alot if it hurts, and I tell them well sure, but like a good pain something you forget. I have noticed that alot of people my age have them, and younger people too. I think maybe people do except them more then before. 40's thats my age, got my first one when I was 32.

I agree with the whole touching thing, creeps me out, I have my chest completely tattooed and people try and touch it all the time, "hey get away -!!!" I wanna scream at them, lol. As far as the whole thing about people asking if they are real...I went to a carnival once and walked up to one of those booths that do the temporary tattoos, there were quite a few people waiting to get something, i said, " hey, i came here last year and you put these on for me and they never washed off!" The looks of the faces were priceless, they actually believed me! that was hilarious!!! I have full sleeves and a large chest piece, side of my neck, both feet, thighs and calves!!!I wonder if they thought twice about getting their "fake" tattoos! Big Grin

I only have one tattoo for now, and whenever people find out I have one they look at me in awe. I'm a female student at one of the hardest schools in the state and people always say something like, "you don't look like the kind of person who would have one." Thats when I tell them that I'm a comissioned officer in the US Navy. Then it's either like that explains it or they don't believe me. (I don't look like the steriotypical Navy dyke woman...I'm actually a Hooters girl on the weekends!) But after they find out people love to ask me about it and what it means to me and I love it. I love talking about my tattoo, and I am an addict, the problem is I can't decide whats next!!! I draw so many and I just can't pick! ANyone else have that problem?

I know that I have an addiction to tattoos and that I love them, but other people don't look at it this way. I work at a Veterinarian's Office and i am a straight A student. The girls that I take out on dates parent's look at me like a punk kid and a bum. I work 7 days a week and pay my bills every month and it just irritates me that they don't look past my ink and metal and see the hardworking me but that's their choice. I'm 16 now and have 3 tattoos and plan on getting plenty more ASAP. But I catch a lot of slack for my addiction of things and the people that really know me know I'm better than a bum and that's all that matters.
