I think these families would be more willing to change their eating habits if you gave them good recipes. We do eat healthy, but I would never serve brussel sprouts or zuccini or tofu to friends.

The food offerings on this show would only discourage other families from trying to change their eating habits. Cucumber soup and zuccini! Who comes up with this stuff!

I agree, why don't they take into account the likes and dislikes and ages of the kids, and the cooking ability of the parents before giving them the menus? And why hide the peanut butter? What about healthy pizzas snd pastas and chilis to get the kids on their side?

I absolutely agree. The foods need to be more realistic. People eat out a lot as well. Everyone needs to have healthy enticing foods to choose from - and have it not be such a challenge to get into your mouth which sometimes looks like torture. My family eats fairly healthy and when it's not as healthy we eat less of it.

I absolutely agree. I assume they pick these "throw-up" looking dishes for drama's sake but, as a nutritionist and good cook, I find it offensive. There are a ton of healthy, delicious, and child-friendly dishes out there - why on earth would you pick Brussels sprouts, cold soup, and a tofu stir-fry! Of course, everyone digs in on the turkey meatballs and spaghetti - no big mystery there!!!

I agree with you all and my family was on the July 4th Episode. The food took a long time to make and wasn't very appealing.

I don't agree!! My family also was one of the families chosen for the second season. I agree with every meal Felicia introduced to us and the order it was introduced. If it wasn't for some of the "not so appealing" meals I made, I would have never known my kids all like halibut, fish tacos and other items I never bought. By week three my kids were so excited for Turkey meatloaf, healthy mac n cheese, healthy chicken nuggets to name a few. If Felicia had me make the Turkey meatloaf, fish tacos, mac/cheese & nuggets the first week the kids probably would have not liked it. But since we started with "not so kid friendly" shocking meals which they didn't eat much of. I think it really helped them like the "kid friendly" healthy dishes we had the last week. Make sense?? It did to me. Smile Oh and as (pattilegrand) stated the meals were also very time consuming for me to start. Now I'm a pro and have these healthy meals prepared in less then half the time.

Why such weird, horrible food? Because that makes good television. D R A M A ...

The best way to make changes in your life is gradually, not cold turkey. Especially when kids are involved. But that's boring television. The producers want viewers to have strong reactions.

But seeing the end result is pretty inspiring to me, so maybe the producers have a point.

I think the food selections are great - healthy, new options for the families. It's good to expand your horizons beyond the same old foods! And I think the host does a great job of balancing the meals and helping the families. She is terrific!

Oh I agree! I think the spirit of the show is good but the stuff served makes me nauseous just looking at it on TV! I mean come on, eel, squid... I wouldn't even feed that to my DOG let alone a child. I'm sure it's mostly just for 'drama' and I think it's ridiculous.... healthy food doesn't have to be disgusting.

I was perplexed by the food selections as well especially the first week. I mean, I don't know anybody in their right mind would serve their child squid or eel and expect them to eat it happily. YUCK! I think it's a shame because eating healthy doesn't have to mean that it's unpleasant. I had trouble even watching the people eating some of the stuff on the menu and wouldn't even serve some of that stuff to my pet let alone a child. I'm sure it's all for dramatic effect.

I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT SOME OTHERS THINK THE FOOD CHOICES ARE WEIRD TOO. I would think that when trying to get kids to eat healthy that you would start with something more appealing than brussel sprouts or squash.

Don't knock food that you probably haven't tried!
I think that everyone has a different opinion of what is weird or yucky when it comes to food. I think this is often based on geographical location and your personal expierence with food. There are definte food differences all across America and in all cultures. Maybe the show should take that into consideration when giving the recipes, but then again, maybe people need to be more open to new and different food.
My mother always taught me to be very open minded when trying new food. She also served all kinds of foods. As an adult, I continue to try new foods with an open mind, much that is unusual along with healthy.
And I regard myself as in "in my right mind" and I would/have feed my children squid.
You do realize that calamari is squid? I am sure some have tasted that before. Well, squid can be eaten in many healthier forms than breaded and fried. And my kids love squid, zuchinni and brussel sprouts and tofu. They may not have at first bite, but given a chance and right attitutde, they have learned to enjoy healthy food.

I know, sometimes I have to laugh at the stuff they expect those families to eat. I am a life-long vegetarian and know that there are ways to make tofu, eggplant and other "odd" foods taste wonderful. But, really, what's wrong with introducing one or two new foods at a time and revamping popular recipes more healthfully? These are kids for pete's sake!

HATE TO TELL EVERYONE, BUT FELICIA DIDN'T DO A THING TO HELP MY FAMILY, WE WERE THE "SLIMPOSSIBLE" FAMILY AND IT WAS THE PRODUCERS WHO REALLY DID EVERYTHING AND MOST OF THE TIME THEY WERE CONTRADICTING WHAT FELICIA DID SAY. AND NOW THAT I AM DIABETIC EVERYTHING THEY TAUGHT ME IS TOTALLY WRONG FOR MY DIET. WE WERE TOLD TO LOOK AT SUGARS AND SALTS ON THE BACK OF LABELS, STAY AWAY FROM THE FREEZERS, MY DOC SAYS NO! 45 CARBS PER MEAL AND SMART ONES, HEALTHY CHOICE AND OTHERS ARE GREAT FOR ME. WE ARE STILL KEEPING SUGARS AND JUNK OUT OF OUR HOUSE AND MY TWO SONS LOOK AMAZING, BUT THE PRODUCERS LIED TO US LEFT AND RIGHT. I FEAL REALLY BETRAYED BY BBC THE ONES WHO PRODUCE THIS SHOW.
