My daughter lost her first tooth on Friday! I was so excited. My husband and I didn't know the going rate for Tooth Fairy rewards, but we had some gold dollar coins and thought that'd be perfect. We gave her two for her first one, and we figure from here on, the TF will leave just one. She liked the gold, even though she told everyone it was a nickel! So what's the Tooth Fairy leaving in your neck of the woods?
OK, this sounds nutty, but I kind of overdid it with my little one, who lost her first tooth about a month ago. Exciting indeed. So much so that she carried it around everywhere and, not unexpectedly, literally DID lose it before it was time for bed. Her little heart was broken (mine, too). So she 'dictated' a note to the Tooth Fairy explaining what happened. Said fairy left a note in reply the next day in a small velvet bag with a FIVE DOLLAR BILL. Probably a dumb move, but I couldn't help it. The excitement on her darling face was worth every penny. So glad I got it on film!
My 2 oldest both lost their first tooth while we were on vacation with my family (2 separate times). My parents (seeing it was their given right as grandparents) and the variety of aunts and uncles - all wanted to be the tooth fairy. Well, it was close to $15 by the time it was done. My mom died last year, so this year, when my second lost his tooth with the same group - everyone felt the need to make it just like when my mom was alive. So, he cleaned up too!
Now, number 3 is hoping to lose his first tooth when we go on the "family vacation"!
Here at home though... it's a buck or 4 quarters!!
Our tooth fairy always brings a "coin dollar" and then usually 2 or 3 one dollar bills. I know when I was little the tooth fairy always left a 2 dollar bill. That was always so exciting, I see the same excitement in my girls faces as what I think my mom saw in mine.
