I saw recently an infomercial, and I typically don't watch them but I did find this interesting.
I don't remember the name it had but it cuts veggies in ONE MOTION!
It has a plastic container as its base, with a top/lid that is embedded with crisscross blades. Kind of like a grid, where they make these little squares.
The top blades go one way and the bottom ones the other. All you have to do is cut the tops and bottoms off your tomatoes or apples or onions or whatever. Place it in this cutter and pull the lid STRAIGHT DOWN. Once!
It automatically chops/dices and creates about a cup of each, and it is fitting to variety of fruits and veggies, saving time and energy in the kitchen.
Maybe that will be of help to chefs and cooks everywhere-
I've got a chopper like this, but mine is a Genius, bought off the Q-shopping channel. I just love mine. Quick and easy, that's what it is about for me in the kitchen, the easier the better. Usually use it to chop up a potato or two in the morning for homefries, add the onion, green pepper, and then just dump it in the frypan. I just cook for two mostly, so it is the perfect size, no messing up the counter or getting out the big cutting board, etc. It is great of things like onion, pepper, potatoes, summer squash, zucchini, etc. For tomatoes you need to make sure that they are firm, not overly ripe. I will cut a pepper or tomato in half usually and the trick is to put the peel/skin side down so that the blades cut into the fresh cut part first, makes it easier that way. It's really a super fast way to chop an onion and for once I find that I've bought a kitchen gadget that I really do use for more than a week.
