I am not sure about his birthday, but am pretty sure that Zaphod and Flower are his parents. Yes he was bitten from a snake, but he did survive the snake bite immediately. Some believe he passed after the snake bite, but most believe he is still alive, including me. Sometime last fall, there was a thread on one of the forums where it mentioned that a similar meerkat to Shakes was seen a few times, but I lost contact of that forum and cannot find it. In my opinion, I believe that he is still alive with a group of his own being the DM of the group. Some people believe he passed after the snake bite, but all the time the research team and producers have spent around the area they would have atleast spotted his body.
I forgot to mention this in my previous message, but, I know that some are thinking about this and believe that maybe his body was not discovered because a predator found it and ate it, predators do not eat animals that are already dead, they only chase after animals that alive and hunt them down to eat. The only thing that triggers an animal to chase its prey is the chase itself, when an animal runs then that's when the predator chases it, kills it, then eats the kill. Even if a scavenger walked by his body would not eat it because scavengers would only eat dead animals with the smell of blood coming from them.
The snake bite I'm talking about isn't the double bite that Shakes suffered on MM season 1, episode1.
I can't remember where I read that after the Big Si, Lazuli burrow incident, that he was confirmed to have died after being bitten by a snake during the winter.
Scavengers only eat animals where they can smell fresh blood, if the animal passes away without any cut wounds, then the scavenger would not know if it's alive or not and the scavenger would not take any chances on it possibally being alive. They are scavengers not predators meaning they only eat the kill from other animals.
Suricate_VVM032: When did you hear about the second snake bite? It seems like what zettak is saying about the second snake bite is similar to the first snake bite where he dissappeared afterwards, but how could Shakes have dissappeared after the second snake bite when he was never found from the first one?
I remember that episode, but do they have clear evidence that he died, or are they guessing? This happened 2 years ago but it is still unclear to whether he had died or not, wish things were much clearer about our meerkats.
Hi Phillmeerkat! I read posts right after JE that a body matching Shakespeare's description was found at the edge of the reserve. Now I have read where there have been sightings, one thread even has Ozzy included in the mystery.
Yes, I, too would love to know if little Shakespeare was OK, I think that he is my favorite after Flower, such a darling little guy!
nightweaver67675: I believe a lot of people post threads like that on here to finalize a conclusion in their opinions in the mystery of Shakes and all others that have gone missing like him. I have not seen the thread about the body that was found matching Shakes, but I have seen the thread that talks about a Meerkat haven been spotted a few times sometime last fall that matches Shake's, so, some can believe he has passed on, and others can believe he is still out there, I am one of those that believes he is still out there.
Hi Philmeerkat. I wish I knew where the info for Shakespeare was posted last year, I don't think it had a thread, it was right after JE and things were everywhere. It has also been said that he was not babysitting the day of the attack, but the day before. I agree with you, it seems to be a matter of opinion, and I hope that Shakespeare is out in the Kalahari safe and sound!
Hello Philmeerkat! I also hope that he found himself a family and is doing well. He was very intelligent and resourceful and it is very possible that he is doung well. I still believe that he is out there.
