Here's a great opportunity for Meerkat Manor fans in the Philadelphia area.
A science writer for a local newspaper in Philadelphia is very interested in writing a piece on Meerkat Manor. The article will focus mostly on the science behind the series, but they're also looking for a local angle.
So if there are any rabid Meerkat Manor fans, or better yet fan clubs, based out of Philadelphia, let me know!
Pronker must be the one to do this. Pronker is our source for all things meerkat. This is like the interview for NPR-a great opportunity to spread the word about our fuzzies. I say GO FOR IT!!! Cheryl Meerkats Rule!!!
Pronker, as someone who sits back and reads these to see what is going on, my vote is with you. I'm from the NE region of the state so I'd be proud if you repesented PA. Maybe a little hint to get them to the Franklin Institute or the Museum (remember there was King Tut and people went there. Can you imagine us meerkat fans!!!)
Pronker, this sounds like a great opportunity. I'm from Delaware. I probably would be considered a rabid MM fan according to my husband but am too far away from Philadelphia to participate. I live in Sussex County (the beach area) about 3 1/2 to 4 hours from your city. Missing Mozart.
Thanks everybody! It sounds like Pronker's our girl. I'll be following up about that shortly.
Oh, and we're looking for a super-fan from the New York City area too for a potential interview, possibly as soon as this weekend - so be on the lookout for that post (posting in a few minutes).
If could send us your contact information, we can get the ball rolling on this. You can send that to animal_planet@discovery.com with the subject line "Meerkat Manor - Philadelphia."
We'd also like to get Mae and Gracie involved, so if you could have them do the same that would be great.
I kinda get the feeling from your post above that you don't know this and if I am wrong I'm sorry, but Grace and Mae are Meerkats in the Philly Zoo, so I don't think they can contact you themselves, but I am sure Pronker can speak for them!
Someone (i.e., me) obviously doesn't spend enough time on the discussion forum! That's so funny. I've been telling everyone that we potentially have THREE fans from Philadelphia for the newspaper interview, but little did I know that two of the potential interviewees are, um, non-English speakers. Or make that non-human dialect speakers. Squeak squeak. I'm sure their side of the story would be fascinating too - quick, Pronkers, teach 'em how to talk!
I'm probably way too late to get on board, but I'm another fan from Philadelphia. (My email is the same as my handle here; just append "[at]AOL[dot]COM" to it.
If you need more Philly-based fan material, don't hesitate to send a note.
Oh, and I saw Gracie and Mae last November at the Zoo. They're cute as heck. Anything that includes photos or video of them will be a day-brightener for anyone who likes meerkats.
