Hi, my name is Janelle and I wanted to tell you a little about why I would like to see Flower's movie on the big screen.
Two years ago I was talking with my husband (Christopher) while he was watching a show on Animal Planet. I asked him what he was watching and he said Meerkat Manor. He began to tell me the story of Flower and her family and the other mobs who were fighting against them. I believe it was the end of season 1 and Shakespeare went missing. I was hooked. Not because of this one episode, but because I connected with these animals in a way I had never thought was possible before. At a time when there are so many problems in the world, I was quite taken by these little tiny creatures and their affect on me. I somehow went to another place where I could forget about the problems at hand. When I learned how really small they were I was amazed at how they fought to survive in such increasingly harsh conditions. With all of the predators and other kats out there, what happened in each episode drew me in more. I wanted to tell everyone I knew, and many that I didn't, about how incredible these animals are. And at the forefront was, of course, Flower. What an amazing and incredibly strong little animal she was. I am so very thankful to Animal Planet for giving me the opportunity to witness this beautiful Meerkat and I feel that all of us should have this same experience as well. Imagine, a child seeing a Meerkat on the big screen and being so excited with the wonderful story of a family so close knit and looking out for each other. Parents would be so happy to see animals fighting to save each other and to witness what Flower had accomplished in her lifetime. I believe that this would really bring many families closer together.
With the movie of Flower coming out to only select theatres, I would love to have it shown to all the world. We are all eagerly awaiting for the movie on AP and are saddened that we cannot see her in all her glory on the big screen. When Flower passed I was devastated as many, many people were and still are. Many of us paid tribute to her by going to the L.A. Zoo to see another Meerkat, on the first anniversay of her death, January 27th 2008. We also celebrated, which would have been her eigth birthday, on March 15th, 2008 at the San Deigo Zoo. Many of us have adopted a Meerkat with Fellow Earthlings and are anxiously waiting for our visits.
I continue to come on this site to read all of the wonderful things that are said about Flower, Mozart, Carlos, Shakes, Len & Squiggy and all of the others who are no longer with us, be that they passed away or are no longer able to be monitored.
Mick and Jason, we love these animals as if they were our very own. We want only good things to happen for them and to them. We would love to have the honor of seeing the Meerkat Movie on the big screen. Please consider this and know that we always appreciate all that you have done.
Hi, my name is Nancy and I would like to tell you why I feel that Flower's movie should be released to theaters.
She lived life big. She should be shown to the world on the big screen, not just to fans of AP and MM.
I have been enchanted by meerkats since I was a child. As soon as I heard that there was going to be a show about meerkats, I tuned in to the first episode and have been a faithful viewer from day one.
I tuned in expecting to see charming little animals in their native environment and was astounded to find that the show was far more than beautiful shots of wildlife. It was a story, a true story and Flower was the star.
The lessons that she taught are what life is all about. Her story is a wonderful depiction of real life for all creatures great and small. Not only do I feel that she deserves to be shown on the big screen, but people deserve to know who this Queen of the Kalahari is. I personally know many families that seek out this type of film and I feel that there is an unseen trend of people wanting to see this type of movie.
I hope that her film will be released so that people who do not know about AP and MM can learn about the wonderful things that are offered. AP has introduced a variety of animals that were previously unknown to a lot of people. I looked at the MM chat after Journey's End and found out that may people did not know what a meerkat was. Knowledge is power and educating the public is a wonderful and fulfilling accomplishment.
By releasing Flower's movie, people will learn about AP, MM and get inspired to help wildlife. I "met" some young people on the MM chat and have found that children that are taught to love and respect wildlife have a certain quality that is to be admired.
Let's not keep this wonderful little meerkat to ourselves, let's give the world the chance to "Meet Flower".
