Good morning kach5503! Yes, there is doubt about footage of Flower actually being shown. Even if they just had grainy images, I'd love to see them, but for a movie, they want quality. Having to purchase footage is another obstacle. I'd love for them to at least show a shot of her for few seconds from original footage and then segue into her story.
There is a lot of footage of the Queen of the Kalahari as an adult, and like you, I can't wait! 10 DAYS!
Can you believe it dream maker? I am so excited. I have chills thinking about it.
You are right if I am reading the movie reviews correctly that are on the Spoiler. But know what, when that wee pup nose peeks out the birthing burrow & we will know it is *Flower*, there won't be a dry eye in the house! At least not my house....With the cameras they have, we may even see *Holly* give birth to this litter.
Good evening ccatz! I keep thinking whether or not it is Flower, how many humans or animals have a story about them? Even if it is a "stand-in" in parts. That is so amazing, seeing little Flower's story from the beginning. The commercial that has the tiny pup nose to nose with an adult, reaching it's little paws up makes me melt, no matter who the kats are. At least if we can't see the movie in theaters, we do get to see it and I hope those that made it possible know the appreciation everyone is expressing to them. We can't have everything, but, as c9691 quotes..."Just living is not enough. You must have sunshine, freedom and a little Flower..."
If you want to know more about Meerkat Manor and how Flower died you should read Tim Clutton-Brock's Epilogue to his book, "Meerkat Manor, Flower of the Kalahari.
It seems that the producers of the MM movie want brand new, "seamless" footage. So, it's stand-ins all the way.

If you read this thread, you will find information regarding the blocking of the MM/Flower movie from being released in theaters in the US. They are two meerkat movies ("MM", and "The Meerkats") produced at around the same time, and the producers of "The Meerkats" purchased the distributing rights of the other movie to prevent it from competing in the box office against their own movie.
I would certainly hope that real footage is used...Quality of the footage...Doesn't matter. An authentic, true-to-life story is what does.
(Which means, not like Meerkat Manor. I've read Flower of the Kalahari so I'll know it when I see it)
If it's true to Flower's story, then I will watch some of series four. (The title of 'The Next Generation' is a little too soap-oprea-ish...) S3 killed it for me, but perhaps it (the movie) can regenerate respect?
Hello all! I am still going to watch the movie and S4 knowing that I may be in for a big letdown. It is becoming way too soap-opera-ish for most of us. I can understand the movie having "stand-ins" because I am sure that whatever footage exists from the early days of Flower is not high quality, the researchers were not filming for a movie, but gathering info. I am willing to concede that much. Although a few old images that lead into the movie footage would be a nice touch and allow people that do not know Flower to see that she was and is real, and the peolpe that do know Flower would relish in the chance to see her as a pup.
As far as the "creative license" used in previous seasons, I am able to "go-along" with it, but this writing and then "plugging in" is not what the show is about. Since this is not "spoiler" I am trying not to blab, so I hope I haven't overstepped here. I will watch, and if the movie is not "up to snuff" as far as Flower goes, I don't have to watch it again. I will watch S4 and if they get too overboard, I will mute the sound and just watch the kats.

I totally agree with you, but unfortunately authenticity will be lost. If this is our criteria for watching S4 we won't be in front of the TV, but I want to see Rocket Dog carrying her mother's legacy forward & pay my respects to this valiant lady meerkat despite what AP may do to discourage us.
Hello ccatz! Yes, despite the discouraging words, I'm going to pay tribute to Flower and show respect for Rocket Dog. Although it may be with the sound muted if the narration gets too overboard.
