I'll be polite and say this is confusing and even a bit maddening at best, but can anyone shed light on the following photo of four Aztec meerkats, specifically the one named "Squig"? (It also names Zaphod) ... I wasn't able to blow it up to see if it is actually "Squiggy" or not ... what would the time frame be on this? Is the Aztec label correct?
I think the Squig in the photo is a pup that was born to a mix liter of Whiskers females. I believe Squig was born last January or February not to sure. I don't think Zaphod was the father. As for why they would name to pups the same name I not too sure.
Squig is a female, and was born in the end of January, beginning of February 2007, in a mixed litter. The mother is one of three Whiskers females: Flo, Ella, or Petra. Seven pups were born at around the same time. The father could be any rover. The photo is recent. Squig was named by the KMP researchers/volunteers that probably didn't know that MM gave a similar name to a meerkat.
Thanks for the information! I guess that raises one more question: What is the "real name" of the original Squiggy, who I believe is also referred to as "Stumpy" in the British version of MM?
The actual fate of the on-screen Squiggy, who was born with a limb deformity, is a subject of great discussion and debate. His sole littermate, Len, was scooped up by a hawk. I believe Len and Squiggy were Flower's last live litter.

Len/Ren and Squiggy/Stumpy were never named. In the Whiskers name list in the FKMP Whiskers package it has Len and Squiggy in quotation marks, and says elsewhere that they were not named.
If AP shows Squig, they'll probably change his name, which I understand because people would probably think he's Squiggy.
All I know is that these are wonderful pictures. Looks like Maybelline has had a manicurepedicure as her claws are looking pretty good. Love the sentry duty pic of her. And it is always amazing to me how really small they are when next to us humans.

Oh dear. I get that wrong a lot... sprry. XD I hadn't looked at the name list too much and I don't pay attention to the codes most of the time. I originally thought Mr. Chocolate was male, and I thought Chocolatine was male, too, before I actually looked at their codes.
