One member thinks this may help bring Sean back:
"So, why am I writing a second time: because I am not coming back. I hope the producers are reading all of these postings, but the only thing they will really "hear" from their loyal viewers is the drop in viewer numbers. And, Advertisers will listen when viewer numbers drop also.
If you really want to have your voice heard, I ask loyal fans to "vote" your heart with me and not tune in June 20. Let your voice be heard by a drop in viewership. It is a big sacrifice and if you decide to go back on the 27th, that's okay. But, we need to let the producers know; they've ripped the heart and soul out of MM and we don't recognize the program any longer."

I would never ever think of not watching my favorite program. I think that it has been made clear more than once about how everyone feels.
Flower's legacy, as well as all of the others that have passed, lives on in their offspring and I for one will continue to watch. Meerkat Manor is only on for 13 episodes and then it fades away and does not return until next year.
I will continue to honor each Meerkat that has passed, and still lives on, by watching each and every episode and I think that if you are a true Meerkat fan, you will watch also.
It breaks my heart to see this previous post, but everyone has their opinion, but it is not mine. I wish that it was never posted. I cannot imagine my life without seeing Meerkat Manor on Friday nights...
Flower, Mozart, Shakes, Carlos, Kinks and all of the other beautiful Meerkats that are still here for us to enjoy need for all to continue to support them each and every week.
I will also continue to go to the Zoos to support the Meerkats there and also to adopt a Meerkat at F.E. My commitment runs very deep for all Meerkats.

With how the producers are destroying this season's MM, we probably won't be watching it next season anyway.
I was only quoting another member.
I think it's good to get the message out, because MANY people do not feel as you do.
Enjoy the re-runs!

Thank you teabag....I know that many many fans will still watch the show and enjoy it. That is a fact!
iluvmmertkats2...
wow!! your name does not go with your post...You may be only quoting another member but your name is all over this..Why quote them let them speak for themselves...Obviously you feel the same and that it ok with me..your opinion only.. And by the way thank you, we WILL enjoy whatever they show about Meerkats, reruns or new shows.. whatever it is... that is what a true fan does....

I think not. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, I would be totally p'ssd if MM was cancelled due to the complaining. AP is trying hard here and doesn't need all this grief and with all this they may not make a Season 5. All I care about it seeing the kats. I can read the Life History reports for what is really going on in their lives. MM the show has been LOOSELY based on the actual project for 3 seasons. While this season has a different style of writing, it's not any different. Please don't tell me the griping is going to go on for 11 more weeks!

I love meerkats and all animals. I support the KMP, FE, and am a huge contributor to The Humane Society of the United States.
Do you really think you are honoring Flower's legacy by watching TV? I can think of better ways to honor her legacy.
If the show is canceled, it will be solely the responsibility of the producers who made the changes to the show and not by the fans who do not like the changes.

But you waste your time writing stuff like this. I WOULD rather watch T.V....thank you for reminding me to turn it my t.v.....

Just a thought but do you know what is MUCH worse than accepting a change in a beloved program? Fighting a network to bring it back!!! The chances are slim to none of reviving a program once it's been cancelled. So a little something to consider there ~ All changes aren't going to be acceptable to all fans. No change is going to ever please everyone, it's impossible. But losing the program completely? To me that would an atrocity not only to us as fans but to all those that count on the revenue of MM to continue the work with the Meerkats, including the Kats themselves. SC.. she may get better, she may not (though I'm betting she will), will she ever be Sean? No, but she might end up surprising everyone. If the fans are successful and have her removed who's to say season 5 doesnt bring someone the fans tolerate even less. Sean is gone, maybe the petitions and the emails will give some pause to the producers, maybe not. Do we like the name changes and *Kat Standins* maybe not but the based on some things I've researched the TV crews are limited and can't be everywhere at once. But if the call comes from a researcher and they end up catching the tailend of what might be viewed as an important event.. they have to improvise or leave it out of the story completely. Sure some of it it upsetting - and Hollywood, but to me it's still better than no MM. Personally, I love watching the Meerkats in action.. MM at what some seem to think is it's worst is still far better than most shows on TV now or no MM at all. Just my humble opinion - tailslap away. But boycotting a show only hurts the fan and the kats in the end ~ the network won't shut down over the loss of MM nor will the producers find themselves out of work.. Ramble over *runs deep into burrow to hide*

You're right. The ratings speak for themselves. MM has lost over 300,000 viewers the first episode without the boycott. I think all the people complaining are just trying to save the show that they loved.

Ilovemitch:
Excellent post..you are right. What would we do if they cancelled the show? It would be devastating. I can only hope that this does not happen and we continue to enjoy watching each week.
The negativity has been going on for over 3 weeks and the show will remain and everyone will hopefully calm down...As far as I can see there were more people watching the 1st episode than many other shows, so a half amillion is ok with me. That is a great amount and it will only get better. Let's stop being negative and enjoy the show....

As a loyal and devoted viewer of MM I have to say I will never boycot my favorite show. I would only be punishing myself for perceived failings on the part of AP. Yes there have been changes that I'm not thrilled with. I don't like SC's style of narration. But it has only been 2 episodes and I'm hoping that she will improve. And I'm willing to give her the chance to work on it. Also boycotting MM only affects AP if you are one of the mysterious Nielsen media families whose viewing habits are tracked. The fact whether I watch MM is really of concern only to me, my viewership isn't counted. Only those families in the tracking study get counted, and calculated to the current viewership numbers.
Instead I will continue on as I do now. I will watch the show in hopes that it continues on for many years to come. Because it makes me happy, it brings me joy. Yeah I don't count for ratings but I don't care. And when I see something I don't like I will respectfully come here on their boards to voice my displeasure.

I will continue to watch MM as long as it is on. Hopefully the negativity will calm down and we can all watch it and enjoy it....
I guess the whole title of this thread is sad....
Great post Jerseykat...I will also NEVER boycot my favorite show....

I have to agree with Janelle, JerseyKat and Teabag on this one. I will watch EVERY SINGLE EPISODE of Meerkat Manor for how ever many seasons there are. Yes, there have been changes but ultimately the Meerkats are the stars of the show and that's what I watch it for..... THE MEERKATS!

What would happen if we boycott?
***AP could cave in, read the bbs and change everything to what we want. But since we are not in 100% agreement over what is a problem, we would have a hard time coming up with a list. Also AP is hardly likely to come to the bbs for advice, they didn't ask before they made changes, they are highly (and stress highly) unlikely to be blackmailed into change by us.
*or AP could cancel MM due to slipping ratings. They could cancel season 5 and leave us without our kats. The more likely scenario to dropping ratings.
So I highly (and again stress highly) recommend no one boycotts the show. If you don't like the way it's running, open a thread and voice your concerns. IF it really bothers you then it is your perogitive to not watch.
Hey on a lighter note if they cancel MM we could get round the clock Lemurs....think about it! Went to the SI Zoo today with QF and the lemurs made me mental....noisy little beasts.
btw..ty Janelle

The path to Meerkat Manor takes many roads. This particular road is harsh and wought with negative karma. Being constructive with your opinions will exact change not by boycotting. If the boycott is successful, there will be a change in the ratings, they will feel the show has run the course and it will be cancelled. If you really want it cancelled follow this path. You will receive your reward and MM will be no more...Peace ZM

Good evening all!
Boy oh boy. We have a mess that is too big to ever clean up. The greatest majority of the "complaining" is due, in my humble opinion, to the faithful seeing the writing on the wall.
It is not meant to detract from the program. It is not meant to hurt feelings. It is not meant to cause bickering.
Ratings being down speaks for itself. I would love to be able to go to sleep tonight knowing that MM will be around FOREVER.
I do not have a problem with changes, changes are inevitable, but when faithful viewers sit down to see Rocket Dog, we want to feel the same connection that there was with Shaksepeare, Mozart, Tosca, and yes, Flower. Same with Maybelline and the other kats.
The connection is gone. People are trying their best to mention what is lacking respectfully and fairly because the faithful know what drew us to the Manor in the first place.
If I thought in my heart of hearts that my sacrificing MM one night (that will be replayed the following Friday, anyway) would help the show, I would find somewhere to go and keep repeating to myself "it is for the love of the kats, it is for the love of the kats...".
There have been suggestions that make sense and it is early enough in the season for a quick fix (they have already broke what wasn't broke, what harm can it do), that is the direction that needs to be taken. I know I will get nasty tailbites, but after watching Mick on Nightline, I did not care for his detached attitude trying to convince anyone that the kats don't miss other kats when they are gone, yada yada yada...that is where the problem is, no concept of the kats and that is where the tombstone for MM should and will be placed.

Well put Zenmeerkat. Like Janelle, Ilovemitch, Jerseykat, Teabag, and Squirrellygirly, I will continue to watch the show. It would be sad indeed if it was to be cancelled.

Thank you Nightweaver. I honestly believe it is about money for AP, not the meerkats. If they think they will make money by changing the show, they will change it.

Hello ilm2, yes, I am one that will watch the kats no matter what unless it would help the show to boycott...I almost wish it were that easy, I would proudly make that sacrifice.
I am just afraid that we will be sitting around watching DVD's instead of watching the changing of the Manor. I admit, I will even buy S4 when it comes out...not a problem.
They are either going to listen or they won't. They will just replace MM with another show and make their money there until it fails.
I only wish that we could find some way to get together and try to save the Manor. I want new viewers, I want old veiwers, that is what makes a show successful.
The idea of pulling the LH reports is preposterous...if that is what is causing the "uproar", this "uproar" would have begun long ago.
I hate to speak badly of anyone, but Mick makes me {{{shudder}}} and I do feel that Jason is doing a great job, but he is not the "Big Chief"...OH, how I wish he were, he seems to have a lot of feeling toward the fans and the kats.
Well, it remains to be seen.

AP have already tried to copy MM with the Lemurs, etc. without success. They new they were taking a risk this season via the commercial, "Don't judge, just watch." With so many people not liking the new narrator, do they think this will be overlooked with a change of storylines? I "think" they will try to save this show (their biggest money maker ever).
I honestly did not start this boycott. If you read it and read my posts, that is fairly obvious. Maybe I made a mistake passing it on, or maybe it will help. Only the future will tell.
I really wish I new what the ratings of Friday night's show were.

Hello ilm2, it really does not matter who started what, there were suggestions about sending gummy worms until somebody got their nose bent out of joint when we were joking and mentioned other things just trying to keep the mood up.
Something needs to be done, and if it would help, I'd jump on the boycott wagon with gummy worms and mealworms in tow blowing soap bubbles all the way.
We will see what the rating are and take it from there.
Have a wonderful evening!

Oh, Nightweaver,
I don't understand why they pulled the LH reports. They aren't even filming now, are they? How will pulling the current reports affect the show?
Everything that has been filmed for this season has already been reported.
