It was great to open my TV Guide today and see Flower's cute little face Personally, I think she should have been on the cover like the star that she is! Seeing the movie listed in next week's TV schedule makes it seem so much closer to happening.

Jason:
Will the footage of Flower as a pup really be her? It's my understanding that filming began a year ago, so I'm assuming that the pup that they are planning to show is not Flower. If not then who is the pup?
Thanks.

Jason,
Thank You for the Trailer...I've also ordered my copy of the dvd, so I can see my precious Flower again and again for the rest of my life...
I am saddened though that the Movie won't be shown in America Theaters, I was really looking forward to seeing Flower and the rest of the family larger than life on the Silver Screen...Guess I have to break down and get a big screen TV some day soon.
Thank You for keeping us in the 'loop'!!
Peace Love & Meerkats Christine ps, Pronker, thank Evi and the Powers that Be for putting on the contest at the FKMP site, so that more may enjoy the Burrow...

To horakhti73: I doubt that the movie that we will see on Animal Planet will be released to the theaters as it is only 73 minutes long. Anyone who has read the Epilogue to Tim Clutton-Brock's book will find a diffent take on what happened to Flower on that faithful day. I understand that the team that was doing the filming said that they can't interfere with the meerkats and what nature has in store for them, but in Brock's book there are many pages of pictures of the daily weighing of the Whiskers and they wait in line, get weighed then get a treat. Also, in another mob, one of the meerkats had a very contagious disease and was euthanized rather than letting the meerkat spread the disease throughout the mob. If they could do that, and let the meerkats stand on some of the workers heads, feet, etc. and give them treats then why couldn't they have used their cameras to persuade the cobra to move on. In Brock's book, he says that Flower was struck at once but the snake missed but the pressure of the other meerkats wouldn't let her backup enough to keep from getting struck the second time the cobra tried. She also spend the night in another hole and came out the next day wobbling back and forth and tried to go with the others to forage but she was so weak that she fell over. She was allowed to lay in 122 degrees all day until her breathing finally stopped. That is one and a half days that the filmers could have rendered aid. I'm quite confused as to what really happened. But, I do know that the author of the book has done many many studies on many animals, including Meerkats.

Forum Friends, I think I might have just uncovered another new MM behind-the-scenes video... Or at least I hadn't seen it. It shows Tom Flower and the researchers talking about individual meerkats, etc... Check it out here.I also found a new movie poster image, inserted about half way into this MM review.

Thank you wcm for telling us of this wonderful video clip. It is great seeing all of the Meerkats, and Tom Flower pointing Rocket Dog out to all of us and we even see her scar from the snake bite. He says that he hopes she will go on to be everything her mom was as well. How sad, but somehow to see her makes me feel a little bit better.

You are so right, Christopher9691. In fact, the advertisement is so cute that I decided to remove the cover to protect it from damage. I might even frame it for hanging in my office.

I love the video. And to think he got to name Rocket Dog. Tom Flower seems to have what we want.

Thanks for the link much appreciated West-coast meerkat. I watched it and found great joy in seeing the whiskers together. I think I might have even seen nugget and beaker. The whiskers look really good in the video healthy and happy. It looked like RD was pregnant does any one know when they filmed this video. So good to see RD at the head of her family she looked so proud.

Beautiful video. Thank you for sharing that. Rocket Dog is so beautiful - she really looks so much like her mom. One of Flower's stand in actors for the movie toward the end did have a scar on her head above her left eye. I have to pay more attention when I see the movie again on Sunday - maybe those scenes are of Rocket Dog. It was hard to tell who all the meerkat stand ins were but I suppose it really doesn't matter - as long as Flower's legacy is cherished and remembered by all.

Great video. The group looked healthy. Rocket Dog was so cute. The poor thing survived the snake bite. It could be her as a stand-in for Flower in the movie.

Superb digging, WCM! I enjoyed the video thoroughly, especially seeing dear Rocket Dog looking well, cutie Buster and other Whiskers contentedly clustered together. It's my favorite "behind the scenes" look yet. Thank You very much, you made my day.

Thanks for the link WCM! Great clip, especially being able to see Rocket Dog so close up to a person. Can't wait to see the TV Guide! I'm getting my meerkat stuff together on my fireplace mantle for the big event Sunday. My husband thinks I'm an idiot!

Many thanks to West Coast Meerkat for finding and posting the link to that wonderful video. Took me a little while to get my computer to play it, but it was more than worth the wait.
Loved seeing Rocket Dog, Busta and all the other Whiskers. Like others, I thought they looked happy.
Could anyone tell if Ella was in the group of Whiskers with Tom Flower?. I thought the pups shown were probably from Ella's litter.

Howdy all... I'm glad you enjoyed the new video. I'm always glad to do my sentry duty when I can.
Guess what? I found some more stuff today! There's a new interview with Producer Mick that I found in a Pittsburgh news article today. Unfortuantely, he gives away the last scene of the movie in the interview, so rather than post the news link, here are the portions of Mick's quotes that you'll likely find interesting, (without giving away the movie scenes):
So Flower is played by other meerkats, not Flower herself. "Some lovely meerkat actresses stepped in," Kaczorowski said, tongue planted firmly in cheek... "We're trying to tell Flower's life story at specific times so we had to find other meerkats that were the same age, same family structure." Stockard Channing replaces Sean Astin as the series' narrator. "We felt with the passing of Flower -- and it wasn't only Flower that passes, she was one of many characters that died last year, unfortunately -- this was an opportunity to look at what changes we can make to make something different with the series," Kaczorowski said. That included swapping narrators. "I think you'll find they have a different feel with a woman's point of view. It's funny how you can change a narrator and you start to look at the season in a whole new way." In another news article I found today(link below), it appears that AP has hired "Blue Room Designs" to make the new 'head-bobbing' meerkat commercials that have recently begun airing. AP sent Blue Room footage of meerkats against greenscreen, which Blue Room put graphics behind. Meerkats in front of greenscreen suggests that these are actually the Fellow Earthlings meerkats that they're using in AP's new meerkat commercials. Blue Room's creative director stated "We got great shots of the meerkats in their natural habitat...". FE is a natural habitat?http://dtv.broadcastnewsroom.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=399842
