Hello my meerkat friends.When i first started watching meerkat manor i loved flower soo much.And then to find out she was killed by a puff adder i was heart broken.But then a meerkat came along called Rocket Dog and when i saw her i loved her i thought of her as another flower and i thought well flower the DF already died which was heart braking so i was pretty positive that Rocket Dog was going to be around for a while.So i kept watching and i was unable to watch the last three episodes.And i heard when i was reading a post about rocket dog dead but i couldn't believe it.But i posted some posts and i got reply backs that our little rocket dog was.....Dead So what happens you get attached and then they just die??I am so sad they never try to save the DF!So i just want to say i loved rocket dog she was a great mother,Brave and worked hard to get the whiskers on top I love You Rocket Dog tell all the other meerkats we say hi.R.I.P
Well, I'm watching the last episode at the moment. I don't know if Rocket Dog is dead yet but I will keep you posted. The reason they don't help the meerkats is because they are only studying the meerkats. They don't want to turn them into pets.
Rocket Dog did survive the snake bite... but some time during the winter, when they don't film the show, poor Rocket Dog was hit by a car. The same way Flower's aunt died, as seen in "The Story Begins."
Ella, RD's biological sister and who was called "Sophie" in Season 04, is the new leader of the Whiskers.

MLM - I completely understand and relate to what you are talking about. I too was devastated when Flower died. I had become so incredibly attached to her. I adored her. I swore I would never get attached to another meerkat and then I started to become attached to RD and even more so to Maybelline (and let's not even talk about how attached everyone is to Zaphod). It is impossible not to get attached. We give them names, we watch their everyday struggles and triumphs in this unforgiving environment they were born into. It's very hard. After season 3, I swore I'd never watch again, but of course, I had to watch Season 4. We love a species that unfortunately has a lot of predators and a lot of dangers from their fellow species. On top of that they live in a very unforgiving environment plaque with drought, extreme temperatures and at times, lack of food. With all that in mind, it would seem the safe thing to do is guard your heart and not get involved. I grapple with the question of "do we intervene or not" everyday and I've laid in pretty heavy with my opinion in the past on these boards. But all that aside, if we don't open our hearts and become vulnerable then we are the ones that are missing out. Flower and Rocket Dog lived and died whether we were paying attention or not. Whether we cared and loved them or not. I'm not saying the losses aren't painful. But despite the incredibe pain, I feel truly blessed to have known my beloved Flower and all the other wonderful meerkats on the manor. I feel your love for Rocket Dog and I hope we all can be a comfort to you during this difficult time. She was an incredible DF and truly made her mother proud. I can only pray she is now at peace by her mother's side looking down on the drama that continues to unfold as our beloved meerkats continue to try to eek out an existence in the vast Kalahari Desert.
Meerkats love me, I understand how you feel. I loved Rocket Dog, and I had such hope for her. Its been hard for me. Especialy after loosing Flower. Its hard too, seeing her survive the snake bite, knowing what happened to her. She was a fighter like her mama. Here is a video tribute a special friend made for me. Maybe it will give you some comfort.
The Whiskers are all over the Kalahai, and there is still Maybeline and Zaphod, and Ella is the new DF of the Whiskers. I pray there is a season five, so I can keep watching them.
Keschameerkat - I just read your post and went to your Youtube tribute to Rocket Dog. I still have tears in my eyes as I write this. How lovely - the pictures, the sentiments and the song by Enya. I hope that "Meerkats Love Me" signs on today and finds your post. I think it will comfort her. Thank you again.
Keschameerkat, I have just seen your tribute to Rocket Dog, and like Queenflower, the tears were streaming down my face. Rocket Dog filled the hole in my heart this year, the vacancy left by my favorite, Mozart. Rocket Dog, to me, was the tower of strenth for her family and had so much potential and had a very tough one year of leadership. I will always remember the time, when, last season, she bowed down her head to Flower, when Flower returned after the Whiskers got separated and Rocket Dog had to take the mantle of leadership. Rocket Dog deserved a DM, and who knows, maybe she is frolicking with some adventerous male meerkat over the Rainbow Bridge. Again, thank you very much for that tribute.
I knew she survived the snake bite but didn't know about her being hit by a car. I am sad. Maybelline was my favorite, but RD had most of Flowers attitudes and personality. I will truly miss her. I do hope that there is a next season, because my TV guide said "series finale." Believe me, I am praying for many, many more seasons of my beloved MM. I will be lighting candles at gratefulness.org for all my little departed meerkats.
Kescha, I want thank you for the loving and beautiful tribute to Rocket Dog. It was so fitting a tribute to a marvelous young lady; and, I am sure her mother told her so. The film brought tears to my eyes, as well. I can hardly wait to show it to my DM, he is a great Rocket Dog fan!
Kescha,, I played the tribute to Rocket Dog first thing this morning for my DM. When I asked him what he thought, the answer was, "beautiful". BTW, he is the King of the Understatement.

MeerkatBabe, I'am praying too, for many more seasons of Meerkat Manor.
I had been visiting the KMP site before the season started and I had seen that Rocket dog had past by a car accident so it was quite painful watching the season knowing she wasn't alive. I was surprised when the site stated it wasn't updating the groups so not to spoil the season for Animal Planet. Is it Animal Planet personnel that film Meerkat Manor or do they work with the researchers to get their footage? Does AP contribute to the project that the project would give in to their demands? If it all about the ratings and the cost to film, Animal Planet is doing animal enthusiasts no favor by keeping the multi-shows that have spun off Animal Precinct showing how humans are horrible than educational as well as entertaining shows like MM. I could not find the last episodes on regular programming but found them on Free on Demand. I hope the Manor lives on with us included!

Hi! I just wanted too say that Rocket Dog didn't die, but she almost did. I think the people in charge did something otherwise she would have died. I mean seriously! How could she have survived a bite to the head without medicine? I think they did the right thing, saving Rocket Dog. But if she had died, I hope that Sophie would have taken over...
I can't belive Rocket Dog is dead!!!!!! HOW COULD THEY HIT A MEERKAT THAT EVERYONE LOVES?! DON'T YOU THINK THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE SOMEONE IN FRONT WATCHING FOR MEERKATS INSTEAD OF JUST HOPING NOTHING IS IN THE WAY?!?! I NEVER NEW SHE WAS HIT!?! I THOUGHT THAT THEY HIT ZORRO!!!!!
RocketDog123, I, too, like many was very upset when I learned about the circumstances of RD's death. I was hurling curses at the Uncertainty of Life. She was a courageous meerkat who took up the burden of leadership and did an admirable job. She was taken away too soon from her family, and us, her extended family, and we will always love her and miss her terribly. Right now, she is over the Rainbow Bridge in the warm embrace of her departed loved ones, including Flower, whom she loved and respected.
Rocket Dog, your papa and your mama loved you so much. We know you are with your mama, but your papa could still be out there, or so I hope. Uncle Zaphod may be living with your sister now, but he was around you for quite a while. May you enter into your rest knowing that you were loved not only by meerkats, but also by those who followed you, either in person or on TV.
I'm sorry, but this is not someone looking for attention. It was stated on a news program that Rocket Dog has died. I missed the news program, but many others have seen it. To tell the truth, I really wish it was someone looking for attention because I loved RD so much. She was so much like her mother in the end.
