They probably would if they knew I watched the show, but I'm glad my friend started watching it, too. I'm gonna get her into the show. She already has a favorite meerkat.

Meerkatlover12, Don't sweat the bullies. I'm 35, and the guys I work with give me a hard time about it too. But you know what? Having a big enough heart to care about our planet, and the animals on it, means you're a good person. Bullies just care about themselves. They're selfish and ignorant. And who knows, by you sticking up for what you love, you might just get those guys to realize there's a much bigger world out there, and they should open their eyes and hearts, to appreciate all the wonders that are on our planet.

Hi! I am a 56 year old teacher and I know many folks, young and old who watch this show. I have been addicted since the first episode. I am not ashamed that I watch it and even have gotten other folks hooked on it. As far as the safety of this sight I would say not to worry. This entire forum is for friends of Meerkat Manor and we share no personal information. What we all have in common is a love for these delightful mammals! I do not normally go to chatrooms and forums (too busy making sure that planning and grading get done) but this site is great and I make time for it everyday! Enjoy them and the show.

One thing you might be able to do if people give you a hard time, is point out, "Well, it has fighting, blood, death, romance... Doesn't seem like a kid show to me." or something to that degree. Or "I don't see many kids watching soap operas or The Godfather. That's pretty much what this show is, just furrier."

I am 62 years old, and I love the show. The only one I watch every week. They kid me at work about watching it also, but all in good nature. I just smile and tell them they don't know what they're missing. Also, my 64 yr old school teacher sister, also watches the show every week. The bullies day will come --- especially when you become a world famous nature/animal expert.

Yo
I am an adult too and have loved the show from the start. My older sister rolls her eyes when I talk about the show.
My Maine Coon cat comes running when she hears the music. She jumps up in the rocking chair and watches the show with me.
Some folks just don't know what they are missing.

Just smile.... ! You know what you have within yourself and how this show and the little fuzzy meerkats make you feel. Their story is a lesson for all of us whether we are 8 or 80. I am in my 30s and I could care less what anyone thinks. We are all better for having watched, loved & cried...

Spread the word, piscesscorpio...that is what these shows are all about...learning and sharing new found ideas. In this case meerkats, next - rocket science. Some of your buddies may have never heard of a meerkat in their life. Just think, the other name for them is little Earthlings...makes you wonder doesn't it? Just fit it into the conversation one afternoon and invite them to watch. That wardance will get them for sure.

meerkatlover74, do as the meerkats do, bite him on the tail like Flower does to her girls and simply chase him off when he teases you. I am jsut kidding. I am in my forties and my hubby watches it with me sometimes, my MIL watches it, my father watches sometimes. Don't let them tease you. (Even though I might bite them anyway, seems to work for Flower) Hey Pronker, my daughter has a Maine Coon cat too, they are cool, aren't they, all that fur.

My dad teases me about it all the time, and in a very cruel way. Anytime I mention Shakes, he makes some sort of crude comment about him being vulture chow. He did something similar with Blossum earlier tonight. He says it's stupid that I'm so in love with a show about meerkats, and talk about them as if they're humans.

Lionesspride, I can identify with you. My brother didn't understand me and used to tease me cruelly on every point that mattered to me. I learned that responding likewise with an insult was just talking in their language, which only encourages or angers them. Trying to talk softly about your feelings ISN'T talking their native language (insults), so they either get confused or respond with an insult, or both. So in the case of my brother, I just gave up on having him understand me. When any insults came from him I said: "You don't understand," and dismissed him, and found friends who did. It took a while, but eventually my brother was tired of my dismissing him, and wanted to understand me. I think he might have been afraid that I was growing up indifferent to him and ignoring him, and he was afraid I'd given up on him forever. I had, but only if he continued teasing me. He put a stop to the teasing finally, and today we get actually have normal, human converstatoins. Regarding your family, it sounds like you're still in the middle of the story so it's hard to tell what direction it will go. You relationship dynamic with your dad is a big factor. Ask yourself, What are the words he uses and what do they relly mean? Maybe he's the kind of guy that a heart-to-heart could help. Or maybe is best to ignore the comments so that you can still enjoy any other possive things about him. Whetever your options, anticipate equal and opposite reactions for each one, and then see which one is the smartest choice. Avoid the spontaneous choice that feels best (that means you haven't thought about it enough). Always go with the smartest choice. And in any fray, always be the top meerkat, unwavering courage and duty and honor: Shakespeare! Ok I'm off my soap box
