Should they named Flower after Tom Flower??

I'm guessing Flower was named Flower because her mother was Holly - which is a flowering bush - and,keeping with this thought, her sister Petal.

Bischonmom's idea relating Holly, Flower and Petal is lovely. Another idea: Flower and Thumper (a third littermate) are characters from the movie Bambi. Maybe the KMP researcher who named the litter was a fan.

The fourth littermate was Hazel. I wonder who or what inspired that name? There is a hazel bush but I don't think it has flowers. Interesting topic!

Something tells me it was an amazing coincidence.

Flower was born in the year 2000.

"Tom Flower has been in charge of the Kalahari Meerkat Project field research and the reserve since December 2004. He joined the project after obtaining his B.Sc. in Zoology from Bristol University (UK), working as a volunteer in 2003/2004."

But something else also told me, he was very proud to have the same name as Flower.

I've always thought Tom Flower's name is an amazing coincidence. VERY cool. I know he was attached to Flower too (who could resist?), and I'm glad to hear he is proud to share her name. I was delighted and a bit surprised to see him in the Kalahari Q&A clips since he is no longer project manager. An added bonus: he's a hottie! LOL
