It is 12:18p.m. and the food dish is covering the entrance of the burrow. I hope any that are inside the burrow can get out. =^..^=

They are all out because the weather is great.

There is no net over the enclosure. Birds get in. Presumably birds of prey wouldn't try to attack. There is a lot of noise, and people all over.

There is more than one entrance to the burrow.
I wonder why they have not put the message board back up.

It is so good to see the kats running around - they look like they are having a good time and they are lucky to be Miami kats this time of year and can be outside with nice weather.

Cool

Looks like the Miami kats are having a good Christmas and running around - having fun - wonder if they got any gifts - wonder what you would give a kat for Christmas?

Looks like someone threw some paper in the enclosure - hope the zoo people see it & remove it. Meerkats look like they think it's a big play toy.

Since they don't have a posting area on there anymore-does any one know if all 6 are still there? I only see 3 when I click on the site.

Hi Marypat, I just read your post and I have a question. Which site are you clicking on to see the little critters? Also, since I have been looking and asking everyone I can think of do you or anyone else know when the new season (2009) of MM starts? Sure am going nuts trying to find out. Thanks ahead of time for any information you can give me.

Hi MeerkatsRLuv and welcome to the burrow Smile The site I was talking about is the Miami Zoo live meerkat webcam. Here's the link :
http://www.nbc6.net/news/15033098/detail.html

As for your question about the new season- I don't know when it will air. I hope they do have a season 5. I think everyone would love to see how Zaphod and the gang are doing.

Thank you so much for your response Marypat, I have clicked on it. There's no one there right now, but I will anxiously await their appearance. I also hope to see MM soon. I also there was a link to a livestream in Colorado, but, can't find the post about it anymore. Do you know the link to that one too? I know I am asking a lot, but, I just can't seem to go long without seeing the little guys. Thank you so much once again.

Hi Marypat, Sorry to bother you again, but I found the other site too. It is cmzoo.org/animalCams/meerkatCam.asp

Also, someone mentioned that they put the Miami zoo cam on their desktop. Do you know how that's done? I know that is not your job as a Senior member, but, I just thought I'd ask.

I haven't been to the Miami zoocam, but the usual way to have a site on your desktop is to drag the icon from the address bar of Internet Explorer. I'll check it out tomorrow to see.

Just took a peek...one fuzzy is sitting sentry, but could only see his lower rear because of the cam angle. Another was scurrying on the ground in the sun. Hope they are all warm. Love to watch them...need my meerkat fix!!!

What's going on with the camera at the Miami Zoo? For the last couple days, they have not been moving and I have not been able to see any cute little kats. I miss them. I've been forced to watch the ones at the Cheyenne Zoo, which is okay, but not so good.

I noticed the camera seems to be stuck again. I also miss being able to leave messages on there. When I go onto the Cheyenne Zoo site- I only see 1 kat just sitting there. Maybe its too cold for the others to come out. I also enjoy looking at the giraffes-they're so beautiful Smile

They are. They're so graceful. But, they're not meerkats. Sometimes I feel like I'm pathetic because I love them so much. I'd give anything to be able to pat one before I die. How's that for pitiful?

The kats are really active today - they are really lucky to be in Miami and where I live with a ice/snow storm.

I was watching the Miami zoo yesterday and the guy was feeding the kats by hand. They are so cute. It was my dream. Oh well, at least I got a picture.

I'm sorry, but I am in the wrong forum. That's ok, because I just want to talk meerkats. I do not know what happened but we have not received an episode of Meerkat Manor in over a year. I NEED catching up, badly. Please catch me up; the last season I saw was only 4 episodes long, and then nothing. Animal Planet has lost it's appeal - the shows I really loved have disappeared, and instead, too many reruns, too many centered on the worst animal, human beings.
I have gotten where I rarely watch Animal Planet; if I see one more episode of It's Me or the Dog, I'll scream. "Jockeys" are not animals. I want more shows like Meerkat Manor. Why have the episodes been dropped in Augusta, GA? I know I am griping, but I couldn't even log on th the forum for a year also.

all cats,

Animal Planet is taking a break from Meerkat Manor right now, and is deciding about whether it will be back. Currently the film crews are no longer at the Kalahari Meerkat Project, so it will be a long time untill the show returns ( I refuse to believe it will not come back!)

Since Meerkat Manor and Lemur Kingdom are no longer on the air, I rarely watch AP. Sometimes I'll catch America's Funniest Animals to make me smile Smile

Yeah wrong forum, but here is my 2 cents....Since MM is not on, and I agree, I refuse to believe it will not come back, I watch Dogtown which is on the Nat'l Geo channel on Friday nights. Great show and they do amazing things for animals. Love the show. Not Meerkats, but a very very wonderful place for animals to go.

Just checked on the kats at the Cheyenne Zoo. 5 little fuzzies sunning themselves right now Smile It looks like they finally got rid of that old Christmas tree that was in there.

I just checked on the Miami kats and the camera is stuck. But in the still picture, theres 2 people in the enclosure, and a huge pet carrier and gloves on top of the carrier. Anyone know what could be going on? Maybe our critters are going to get checkups.

Hmmmm, that's interesting. I don't see any of the kats in the carrier yet, but I see one digging nearby it.

It was very cold yesterday night, and it is going to be even colder tonight (in the 30s) in south Florida, that's why the meerkats were transferred to a warmer place. It was not too bad during the day (it was in the 60s).

There's a sign up now saying the kats are staying at a hotel until the cold snap passes. Stay warm little fuzzies!

Must be having a heat wave there, they are out today. I'm glad, I needed to mindlessly watch them today. Which reminds me, it's been over a month since I've seen my zoo's mob - time for a visit!

I live in West Palm Beach and I'm about 1 1/2 hour north of the Miami zoo. I've been to the Meerkat Exhibit twice, and it's always so much fun watching them! When I first saw the exhibit, it was overwhelming to me just how tiny these little guys are! Watching MM, they look like they are much bigger than they actually are! (Until one of the researchers is alongside of them! LOL) I sure hope they've gotten through this cold snap we've had lately!

Yeah what's going on with that site? The only site left to see the kats is the Cheyenne Zoo. I can't wait till the German Zoo cams are back up-there's always alot of pups on there.

I emailed the Miami Metro Zoo about the meercam and here is their response:

Meerkat cam is on hold due to changes to the local NBC 6 website:

Ron Magill met with the NBC web Editor and she is working towards bringing back the cam and will let us know if she is successful. They are rebuilding their entire website. We still have all of the equipment and antenna here it is just a matter of linking into the host site.

Also, someone mentioned that the german camera is down. Does anyone have the URL for that one? Thanks to all of you ahead of time. Any and all information is appreciated. Dianne
