Just wanted to tell you all that Animal Planet/Discovery is not sure they will be broadcasting a 5th season. They haven't decided. You have to contact them (like I did) and tell them you'd like to have a 5th season.

At the moment, there are no plans to film a fifth season. If they were to start filming for a summer 2010 season, it would have to start soon. We have been trying to contact AP and get them to commit to more meerkats.

ok all I am truly sorry but I do not have a phone number to call Animal Planet at. I only have the email address that someone else gave to me. I gave it in here in the chat forum. I would just like to say I never really watch AP before. Until I started watching Wale Wars and River Monsters they are really good shows. But about a month ago after watching Wale Wars I turned off my tv and the next day when I turned it back on it was still on AP and there was a show called Meerkat Manor on. I have never heard of this show so I watched it. This show is one of the most amazing shows I had ever seen. it is realty of the truest forum the show grabs you in such an emotional way it is a very powerful show, I have to say it was hard to watch it at 3pm because of work so I order the dvd from AP sense then all of my friends family and workmates who also never heard of the show. Now they are hooked on the show to. when I found out it was not airing any more I was so surprise and disappointed what I am trying to say is. I am one of your new viewers you got me with Wale Wars and River Monsters and now you got me with Meerkat Manor. Not only me but all my friends and family and there telling there friends and so on. so i think you should introduce a new season of Meerkat Manor to your new viewers and put the reruns on at a later time like5-6 i think they will love this show like i do

Wildfire, thanks for the clarification, sad as it is. It's just so hard to believe that AP would desert MM and leave its many fans out in the cold. It's a money-maker for them, and we can see by all the recent posts that lots of newbies have been enjoying the reruns, so the list of fans keeps growing and growing.

How do you know if they tagged your account or message? I have sent many messages to them to try and bring back Meerkat Manor but so far nothing. I have only heard from them 1 time. And it was then that they told me there would be no 5th Season of Meerkat Manor. I have sent and sent and sent emails to AP and keep getting the same response. Every response is the same as the first one. Right now there are no plans for a 5th season of Meerkat Manor. But if you want to buy the dvd's then you can. Come on Animal Planet we want to see more of our beloved meerkats. We want more seasons of them. The Meerkat Manor series was produced in collaboration with Animal Planet
International and filming did stop after season 4. However, that was not
because of Animal Planet's new brand direction but more because of the
death of the matriarch, Flower, and the drop off in viewers after that
significant change in the series. In season 3, as with many natural
history programs, nature played a deadly role in the Whiskers story.
Flower was bitten by a snake and died and unfortunately, although Animal
Planet brought the series back for one more season, it didn't thrive
without her.............Ok there it is. Now we all have to get really busy and let them know if we want another season. So come on we can't give up on them just because Flower died. We still love the rest of them and want to know how all of them are doing. So come on let's get posting and emailing AP. WildFire1074

They are not going to do a 5th season because after Flower died ratings dropped and so did viewership and they don't see a need or reason for anymore episodes. I have been getting the same response from their emails also. I will keep emailing them begging for the "5" season. I certainly did not miss a week even after our precious Flower died from the snake bite. I am in my 60's and my grandsons 12 and 14 are addicted to the Meerkats also. This is one the most enjoyable and educational shows I have ever seen.

I've been watching the reruns from 3:00 to 4:00 every afternoon. Three weeks Animal Planet offers the Meerkats is appreciated. Thank goodness my work hours allow this. It has been sweet bliss seeing their incredible lives.

To Meerkats3.....I to love and miss our beloved meerkats. And I agree with you totally they are sheer bliss in watching them every weekday from 3-4p.m. I look forward to seeing them all week long. I sit and watch the clock and wait for 3 pm to get here. I am hooked on them and so is my ex-husband and my youngest son and my grandchildren of which I have 7 of and they all love the meerkats. Well it looks to me like everyone just up and quit on trying to get Meerkat Manor back on the tv for a 5th Season. Nobody has posted anything since Aug. 22nd. 2009. Come on people if we really want to see our beloved meerkats back we need to start posting here and emailing Animal Planet even though they keep saying the same thing over and over again. It makes me chuckle when the say "it didn't thrive without her" meaning Flower, when all of you are new viewers of the show and are begging for more. I know you are new because I've been here since the first Season aired the first time and I see more and more new viewers signing up.

It's even more stunning if you consider that only about 20% of new viewers will look up the website and join in on the discussions, so that means there are a lot more new viewers out there hooked on the meerkats.

Since there are no new shows being filmed right now you can always join the Friends of the Kalahari Meerkats to keep up with the little diggers. If you join you will see updates on each group not just the Whiskers, Aztecs and Lazuli and you have a chance to join a Friends expedition to the Kalahari Meerkat Project to see them and the research in real life. Friends bring back many stories, photos and videos and last April each Friend got to name a pup. I know Jane called hers Proteus, a young female Aztec pup.

Oxford is currently working on a series on banded mongoose called "Banded Brothers" and it is very like MM so perhaps AP will pick that show up. They are very interesting not quite as cute as meerkats if you ask me but similar. There was a Wild Kingdom episode about them Bandits of Soleus (not sure that is right spelling) that was shown on AP.

So keep emailing and begging for more meerkats there is always hope and perhaps if AP doesn't want a non-thriving show some other nature channel will. The BBC is very big on meerkats and Nat. Geo would be a great alternative, so perhaps emails should go out to them too as well as the series creators Oxford Scientific which had its own website for the show Meerkat Manor.

You are absolutely right Pronker there are alot of newbies out there who want to see MM also. I for one am not a newbie I have been watching MM since the first season. I care about all of the different groups and want to know what is happening with all of them. I live on a very limited budget and have only been able to purchase the first season of MM on dvd so far. I want them to bring back meerkat manor so I can see all of them.
