Hi Philmeerkat! Per belleferret's post, Mr. Astin did not decline narrating. Someone else posted that he mentioned in a recent interview that he hoped to narrate S4, so I am led to believe that he was "forced out". It would be nice if Mr. Astin knew our feelings about this, I am hoping someone has ideas. I did go to his fansite, but I did not see contact info other than the webmaster, and I do not know if contacting the webmaster would be appropriate.
I read your other post about volunteering at the zoo, I so hope that you get to work with the little kats!

I will be going to FE next month and I will ask Pam if she knows anything about Sean's departure. I will also let her know how we all feel about him and for her to relay the message to him. I am sure he already knows....but it would be nice for us to tell him anyway...
Here, here! Or is it hear, hear! I add my support to let Sean Astin know that i will sorely miss him, if it is true that he will not be narrating! He's still my favorite narrator. All the animal shows are good, but Sean just has that special lilt, or something.
I thought maybe going to the Patty Duke fan club site I would be able to send her a message about our feelings about Sean being replaced. How much we want him to be our narrator. But,I could not find away to do it. I am only so so on the computer so maybe someone better then I could re-check the site. I am still very upset about the changes,and the attitudes of the powers to be. I am also very disappointed. =^..^=

Hi nightweaver67675, Under the circumstances I feel it would be ok to contact the webmaster. After all,perhaps Sean thinks he did something wrong. I think he would like to read how we feel and how much we will miss him. I so hope he finds out the truth. =^..^=
Although I will give Channing a chance, I do not know why producers make changes that will affect the rhythm of their shows. I do not remember any show that I remember watching since I was a kid that was better off after making some changes to their shows, but I do remember those shows went off the air a couple years after the changes. Why would anyone want to fix something that has no broken pieces to it? I can understand a new generation and all, but it seems like they are trying to terminate the value of the original meerkats that have passed away, or are missing, or are just not talked about anymore from the show.
Hi catskittens, I wonder if someone who has more knowledge with MM Chat would be willing to make the contact. I do not want to step on toes or cause a rift. I would be more than willing and eager to make the contact, I would just feel better with some approval and guidelines since it will be referring to MM Chat's feelings regarding Mr. Astin.

Like others I am reserving judgement to all the changes for Season 4. Sean will be missed however, Stockard Channing may be just what the fans of Meerkat Manor need to move on and accept the new leader Rocketdog. Of course, we will never forget Flower. Stockard Welcome!
I love Stockard Channing, she is beautiful and a great talent, but I hate that Sean Astin has been replaced by anyone. He is the voice of Meerkat Manor to me!! Well, here in the US anyway.
She was in the West Wing as Abbey Bartlet, and played Betty Rizzo in Grease, 1978....I looked her up on the net and she has an amazing list of film credits.
I will not compare her to Sean Astin as I believe he is and always will be Meerkat Manor.
As this is my first post, I'd like to say that I've been a loyal Meerkat Manor watcher since Season 1.
Despite the incredible start, I'm really concerned about a new narrator. The narrator IS the show in a certain way, because the meerkats can't tell us their story. If the new narrator doesn't measure up, it will set the series back to the beginning.
It may be a new generation, but things need to be constant. There needs to be a certain amount of similarity, and changing narrators is a drastic change for a show that has such a bright future.

I sit here catching up on all of this and my mouth is just wide open..I can't believe all the changes..it leaves me a bit overwhelmed..First season 3's massive changes and losses and now season 4...Oy...This is Flower's place and always will be, as well as her family's. I reserve judgment on the new changes until i've seen it. I can't imagine like the rest of you someone else doing the narration of MM..I guess we will have to wait to see the outcome of these changes....
they said that they needed a new voice because Sean was like the person who introduced Flower. I wonder if they'll replace her after The Next Generation, considering what happened...
Hello everyone, I agree with you all. I cant believe all these changes either. NO Sean Austin? This is not Flowers place anymore? A new Wilson and Sophie? Zaphod a problem dad? I agree with Animal Miracle, this is going to be very hard knowing what happend to our current Manor Queen.
This is just too much. Of coarse they know we will watch the show anyway, to see the kats. I just cant understand why the producers cant keep it true to form, for the fans. I guess we will see. Thanks for having this place to vent!
