hey guys i was just wondering whats better a hamster or a guinea pig? i asked my parents for one and they said no but after a few months later they are now re-thinking it so i should be able to get a pet.. i first wanted a hamster but then i got interestead in GP's .. can anyone tell me which 1s better and what can you do/play with a GP and a Hamster? and the costs.. thanks
My brother has a Robo Dwarf hamster and it's cool to watch but if i had to pick it would be a guinea pig they are bigger and my cousin has one and it sits on her lap and watches TV with her. It's pretty cool.
i have a gp and he watches tv with me and they are easier to find if they get out. mine luvs his ball the bigger balls ae harder to find and cost more than a hamsters ball but it is worth it.
GET A GUINEA PIG! Hamsters bite and they like to be by themselves Guinea Pigs are friendly and they don't bite I have a guinea pig named Salem and another named Sindey and I also have a dog who's a westie named Allie
I went through the EXACT same choice last year lol Guinea pigs are the way to go. Hamsters and so small that they are easy to lose. They are nocturnal so they are up at night instead of the day. They onll live up to 2 years. They smell more too.
Westie, many Guinea pigs still do bite and some hamsters dont bite. It just depends on the individual that you get. Get a female because they tend to smell less. They live up to 5 years (which is better because I guarentee you will be attached to it lol).
cheergirl, guinea pigs should not be put into those types of balls, no matter how much it appears to like it. Guinea pigs have REALLY breakable backs that do not arch or are as flexible as much a hamsters. Me and my best friend both got our guinea pigs together and hers died when she put it in the ball and its back broke . They are more breakable than they seem. My other friend had a guinea pig and her little sister dropped it and its back broke and he died. Im not trying to say dont put it in the ball because its your choice im just trying to save you the heart break of losing her
I would recommed a Guinea Pig if you have a lot of furinture because with a hamster if it gets loose it will run under the furinture. But if you don't like getting peeded on every 15 minutes then get a hamster. I used to have a hamster and it was a pain to clean it's cage but now I have 2 guinea pigs and there cage is a brezze to clean it only takes 5 min. Oh another thing if you get a guinea pig DO NOT get a ball for it because we did that with mine and had to take him in the vet because he nearly broke his back on it so don't even get a guinea pig ball,it can and the vet said it will break there back!
hamsters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have one named Scooter. she is sooooooooooo cuttttteeeeee! well shes a dorfhamster so shes realy small!!! but ive never even seen a guinea pig. so i say hamsters. O by the way i know Husky and giraffe team. hi caissiekittyluv. from Husky and giraffe team.

i know its not a hamster or a guiney pig but rats especialy albino are veary good pets. they last along time as long as you give them something to chew on and not to many sweets. oh and plenty of love. i have one and i had her for 3 years already.
i disagree with you huskey giraffe team i have a hamster that loves to be held it's a syrian he's not too cuddley though but ginea pigs get dirty really fast. have you thought about a gerbil they aren't nocturnal and don't produce as much urine. (less cleaning the cage )
I've kept loads of hamsters and bred them, but the thing is, hamsters aren't so easy to play with, I kept a guniea pig when I was really young, 5 or 6. They are quite similiar to rabbits.
I guess if you are inexperienced with handling pets, then a small hamster would be a great starter but if you've kept pets or keep pets or think you can handle bigger stuff, then a guinea pig will probably be a better companion. Sometimes, its hard to tell what the hamster is feeling, being so tiny...
