my father dosn't want any more pets [i have 2 dogs ,one mouse and a fish!] Please post some info and help me beacuse I need it!

ok then. guinea pigs are great pets! you can cuddle with them and let them run around and play. You can also create their toys for them (as long as their safe). If you have a good amount of time on you hands and are able to take it out daily and snuggle it, then its fine if you just get one. But if you can't do that you should get two sso they don't get lonely. You want to decide if you want a long haired guinea pig or short haired guinea pig. a short haired is pretty easy, but a long hair you have to give it some hair cuts so its fur doesnt drag on the ground so it wont trip on it and you have to get a brush to brush the hair at least once a day. Then you want to decide if you want a male or a female. If you are getting two guinea pigs then two females would be the best choice (unless you want to breed them). Two males aren't good to keep together unless they were born together and were never seperated because if they weren't they will fight. But still if you were getting two, I would choose females. If you were just getting one then either a male or female would be fine. Though males when they get sexually mature they give off an odor, but it usually isn't that bad smelling.
You will need to have a plastic water bottle, a salt lick, a food dish and a shelter for the guinea pig. For the shelter, the plastic ones are fine, and so are the wood ones. For guinea pig food try not to get the kind with the shelled seeds in it because the guinea pig could choke on them. For bedding shavings are the best, but NEVER get the cedar shavings.Then for the salt lick the white ones or the brown ones will work, but the brown ones have more vitamins and minerals in them.
Guinea pigs like all kinds of fruits and vegetables! So you can give them as treats. The things you should not give them are potatoes, cabbage (especially red cabbage), collard greens, rhubarb, pears (i heard it makes them bloated), uncooked beans, and finally iceburg lettuce.
A guinea pig needs exercise and should be let out for at least 20 minutes every day. you can make a large encloser for it and ste it up on the floor of you room (though I would advise putting a towel or sheet under it since it does pee and poop). some people let theres run around the house but i wouldn't think that you'd do that since you have dogs.
