How old is it? If it is around 2 or 3 years old, he may be towards the end of his life. You should take it to a small animal vet just to be sure that it isnt sick.

Then you need to take him to a small animal vet, or even better, an animal hospital.

Don't have a what? Many pet hospitals take care of all sorts of animals. Wait until your Mom gets home and have her take you and your hammie.

my mom came home a few minutes ago, we're going to feed my hamster honey, milk, and luke warm water, it's supposed to help hamsters with colds. we're not sure if it's going to work but at least i can finally do something.

That could make it feel better. Just keep an eye on it and if it doesn't seem to get better, I still think it needs to go to the vet. I would be so worried if my hamster got sick. (She's a Campbell's Russian Dwarf Hamster. Also known as the Siberian dwarf. She's black with a little white patch on her chest. She's so cute!)

Those are the symptoms my 2 year old hammy had before she passed away, of course she was older.

Keep an eye out for diarrhea. It could possibly be a disease called wet tail. Wet tail is a fatal disease in hamsters, but I've found a way to help them over come it.

For anyone out there reading this trying to help their hamsters, its a difficult process because they are so fragile, but there is a chance if you catch it early that you can save them by giving them Dri-Tail. You can buy it at the pet store for like $6-$10.... its a good thing to have on hands because when you first spot that your hamster is sick, you need to get it into them fast.

Also, for sick hamsters take a look into bene-bac. It's a micro organism powder or gel than can help stressed out animals. Dark leafy greens, things such as red cabbage, can also help sick hamsters as well. One last thing to try is giving your hamster pedialyte in their water as well, if they come down with wet-tail. Make sure your quarantine your sick hamsters, keep their stress level to an absolute minimum.

Generally hamsters(excluding dwarves) will live from 1-3 years. If you were unsure of the age of your Hamster when you bought it, it may have been in fact older than you think.

Hi my hamster is about 2 years old, he has always been very healthy, but about a week I have seen him going around the cage like a psycho. One of hes eyes are close and hes getting skinny. I put him food but he just throws it away and only drinks water. I'm thinking that hes teeth fell out, because before he would bite hes cage, and I would hear his teeth but now he bites it and I don't hear anything. I'm afraid that hes about to die, because of hes age

Hes needs vet assiatance ASAP. btw...the teeth are supposed to be brown.get him to a vet. the bill wont be cheap but it will save his life.Im not sure what your budget is, but thats going to be your only option unless it just has wet tail, and that you CAN find an antibiotic for at your local pet store or vet office.good luck and let me know what happens!

ok the person whose hamstr got atacked by their cat the reason why he's sleeping so much is because of the injury so put anti biotices on it every day till the wound heals and for extra protection put a band-age
