Several weeks ago, I became aware of the fact that our local Humane Society does NOT scan for Microchips when dogs/cats/or other animals are dropped off.
It is in the news all the time these days, of how a lucky cat or dog was returned to their owners because of the thoughtful actions of their owners, when they had their pets Microchipped. Not checking for microchips is, or should be a crime.
Their excuse was that there was not scanner which reads all microchips. That is NOT true. Bayer has a Universal Scanner (For FREE) that they are willing to send to any rescue/shelter. When given this information, they replied..."Thank you for your thoughtful comment".
I want to encourage everyone here to check with your local ASPCA and/or Humane Society; and if they do NOT scan for microchips, you MUST encourage them to do so. You could literally save a precious life.
