my name is robert I live in Alliance Ohio and I have lived here for 16 years and I've noticed that there lots of cats running around without a home. The stark county humane society doesn't help with the situation on matter how many times you ask it seems as though they don't care I know they do a lot at a humane society but I dont think its enough. I have also noticed that the situation is increasing with dogs also.

Im the type of person that feels that every animal should have a good home. I would take matters into my own hands but I have neither the equipment/resorces nor the funds to take on that kind of action or I would.

What action could be taken to help heal this situation? Is there anything I could do to make the local humane society wake up and hear the people in my town and take care of the situation?

The Humane Society's in many locations are full to overflowing. I do not know what the laws are in your state, I would check to see if there are any laws about the ASPCA or Humane Society having to spay/neuter feral cats for free or low cost. Check on that. You can also look into a TNR (Trap, Neuter, and Release) program. If there is support for that, traps can be set and once the cats are caught, they can be altered, and then released back into the area they came from, usually with a notch in their ear so that they can be easily seen from a distance.

One other option, would be to call a No Kill Shelter in your area, They might be willing to take in cats from time to time. I work with a No Kill Shelter, where we have trapped cats and they have been placed in good homes.
