I am in love with a commitment phobic man. He will not commit to a relationship. He is an amazing and good person. Is there a way to calm someones fears about commitment? I am not controlling and do not want to tell him what to do/where to go, etc. That is his fear with all women. I just really want to know him and he slowly lets me in, but when we get too close - he disappears for a while but always comes back. He was abused as a child and his parents did not have a healthy relationship. Should I try and be there and hold out or move on? Is there a way to work through this?

ahhh!, I see that you are an I.C.P. fan.[I think]
your going to have to give more of an effort than what you are probably used to, say... in being more patient than usual, and allow for him to have all the time in the world to see that you are not the norm in his eyes.
so as you said he keeps coming back, and that within itself is a good sign that he is willing to continue to see you since his fears are not trully being met...and after alittle thought he is willing to continue with you...sort of like live and learn...yet his is abit more restrained, so just continue to be there and not just an emotional challenge.
then he will learn to see that you are different, ok?ok.

Thanks for your reply. I really do care about him and will be patient (not my best quality) and maybe one day he'll realize that I do not want to cage him in. I tell him that I will be his "constant" because I don't think people have ever really stuck by him. I can see why because he has mastered the art of keeping people away. I guess time will tell. Thanks. Smile

Would he consider hypnosis by any chance. When myself and my wife were having problems with tried hypnosis and it worked. However, it can cost a lot of money. Then of course there's TFT therapy which is free and can be done without a practitioner as many times as is needed. Let me find a link to that...

TFT is some sort of self hypnosis I think - I used it to get rid of another phobia of mine. Anyway, have a look here:
http://www.helium.com/tm/133397/there-several-scientific-avoid

It's supposed to get rid of all kinds of worry, phobias, stress etc.,

Hope that's helped,
A. Davies
