After seeing some segments on wind turbines, I got to wondering.Why can't solar cells be installed in the turbine blades. This would increase their efficiency in areas where the wind doesn't always blow. Although it may not be much compared to power generated by the wind turbine. It would still generate power when the turbine isn't turning.
Use of meta- materials might allow the solar cells
to be layered within the blade increasing their efficiency and offering more protection.
