Ok, so this isn't an idea for your show, but I thought since you have a show you might know someone who might be interested in producing it to suggest this to...
I'm a civil engineering student at the University of Dayton and am working on my honors thesis, which deals with the need for visible female role models in order to promote self-efficacy in women engineering students. From literature I've been reading and research I've been doing, it has become obvious that having more women in engineering and other science fields in places where they are visible and can act as role models is essential in retaining and attracting more female students to technical fields. I think it would be a great thing to put together a program aimed at showing middle to high school aged girls what exciting fields are out there for them to explore, as well as what kinds of inspiring women scientists are just down the street from them. With Discovery Channel's level of prominence as an educational network as well as the fact that they are a front-runner with a lot of change-inspiring shows (ie- Planet Earth), I feel that them sponsoring a program like this would be an amazing asset to the future women scientists of the world. I also feel that the producers do an amazing job of turning what may seem complicated or dull if shown incorrectly into a show viewers can't resist. A show like this could have an incredible effect on the future of many girls and if put together in the right manner, many boys as well.
Thanks Danny!
And PS- I think you have a great show, and being in the middle of working on a thesis, myself, I think it's hysterical that you procrastinating on yours got you a really cool job like this.

WELL WORTH INVESTIGATING Hi guys. My name is James Grogan. I am 38 years old. I live in Wa. State. I am a semi-retired semi-pro skydiver. I've never posted a blog or done anything like this. 99.9% of the time I could care less about TV. Your show and a couple other are the only programming worth watching. My friends and I have a RAGING, and I do mean RAGING debate over the authenticity of a crazy video that has to be seen. Here's the link; www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuY5xW_RFMs The way the Totally Insane video plays itself out raises a couple questions, but you guys are the pros/crazies. Tell me what you think. I think it's totally possible. Some of my friends have a different (and very very strong) opinions to the contrary. Either way, I think it would be a great idea to see. Sincerely, James Grogan
