I understand that Animal Planet wants to cater to adults and children so they can watch programs together. As intelligent narration of shows go, Meerkat Manor was terrific.
Cheesy , idiotic , creepy guy narrator of Orangutan Island makes this show unwatchable. Insults the intelligence of adults watching the show.. Too bad creepy guy ruined it for me.

I love meerkat manor. i also love orangutan island. i have to really disagrre with you about the narration. I love it. He makes it fun, interesting and shows us the funny things that the orangutans can do (making sleeping sacks out of bags, etc.) I have a college degree. i don't think it is meant just for children at all. the narration is going to be different because orangutans are so completely different in behavior that meerkats. organgutans are so much more advanced than meerkats and i believe that they demonstrate that with the narration.

Since happytypingirl posted her complaint about the narrator in Feb., I doubt she's gonna read our replys, but . .

The narrator knows what the orangs are up to before we do. He keeps things tied together. I'm an adult, also w/a college degree, love the show & often don't need the narrator & shut him out, but just as often, if he didn't explain the action, I wouldn't get the gist of the action. So sorry happytypingirl seems to forget the purpose of the series - make us aware of the orangutans plight.

I have to disagree with "happytypingirl" on the narrator of OI. I enjoy the commentary even though it is geared to the younger audience. It adds a bit of fun and entertainment to a show that is educational as well!
