I don't understand why animal planet would air another series about meerkats and cancel a great series about one of the world's most amazing and intelligent animals.
I loved both shows. Meerkat Manor are all repeats and I have all dvds of seasons 1-4, Meerkat Manor the beginning' and the book. so I don't need to watch on TV. I would like to see new seasons of Orangutan Island, Meerkat Manor, and Escape to Chimp Eden. ARE you listenning Animal Planet?
I don't think Animal Planet reads this blog. To contact them, click on the "contact us" button - 2 lines below the big brown line.
I was told low viewership & lack of sponsers were responsible for the cancellation. Don't believe it somehow. Notice how many registered members are here & we aren't the only blog. Animal Planet UK is showing season 2 - why can't we?
That's what I don't understand, if you create a forum, and don't even check back on it. I mean you can't be an efficient broadcaster if you don't know what your costumers want, I mean isn't that the point of having this forum?
I think the reason for the shows' unpopularity is breifly due to the ad stating "They're the New Meerkats". They don't deserve the isolation everyone has given them. But Animal Planet is right, bringing the show back isn't the best idea... But it's certainly better then the current programs they run!

It shouldn't matter if viewership was low. When they said , at the end of season 1, that the donations for the orangutans had gone up 400%. That alone is enough of a reason to keep the show on the air. If donations are up because of the show. Then AP should be happy with themsleves. They are making a differance. I understand that this is TV, but it should be about more than ratings. Bring back the orangutans and my family will tune in.
