I would like to know what anyone out there use for paint color for their flips. As I feel that paint color is extremely important! Can anyone give me an idea, or even better, a paint color at home depot or lowes that I can buy for my current flip. I never like what I buy and would like to know if anyone found a color that always gets raves at their open house showings.
I am a flipper as well as a Real Estate professional.... so to answer your question, we have a term called "broker beige". It's not really beige but it means leave it plain (the enterior that is). When a home is decorated with custom paint colors you are only leaving the door open to impress potential buyers that like and or appriciate your paint choice. However, we typically go with a "swiss coffee" (Behr brand) for the walls and a "bright white" or just "white" for all the trim, molding, and casing. Also us Behr. The finish of the paint might help.... use a egg shell to give some texture in the larger living areas and dont use a full gloss in the restrooms and kitchens. It just looks to "cheesy" or cheap. Go water based but use a low sheen satin finish or something close to it. Most Home Depot's have a board painted all in one color but showing different finishes. Just make sure the kitchen and bathroom can take some abuse and the moisture.
It is a good idea to perhaps use one large wall in the living room or den of a home to draw some attention. You can do that by using an accent color (a slightly darker color but not so custom that you scare anyone). Maybe an earth toned green or light plum or a creamy color (not quit yellow).
For the exterior, drive the neighbor hood and take the best home you find and improve on it. Make sure the paint color works with the roof!
