I am in the middle of purchasing a foreclosure and after the rain now found out that the basement is flooding!... I have not purchased the property but would like some advice on basement systems and pricing. I already see that waterproofing a basement is not something I want to take likely!... It is so important if I am going to purchase this property! I would appreciate any input on this and should I go forward with this purchase. Is waterproofing a basement that costly!?!? I am in the central VA area. THANKS!!!!

The problem may go deeper than a wet basement. There could be moldand rotted wood to go with it. To do a basement right if it is a single home. It's about a 20K job. If your cutting corners you can do a fench drain in the basement with a sump pump pit. That should run you approx 8K. Good luck. I am flipping a house right now for some one I met on these message boards.
