I am in the middle of purchasing a foreclosure and after the rain now found out that the basement is flooding!... I have not purchased the property but would like some advice on basement systems and pricing. I already see that waterproofing a basement is not something I want to take likely!... It is so important if I am going to purchase this property! I would appreciate any input on this and should I go forward with this purchase. Is waterproofing a basement that costly!?!? I am in the central VA area. THANKS!!!!

The problem may go deeper than a wet basement. There could be moldand rotted wood to go with it. To do a basement right if it is a single home. It's about a 20K job. If your cutting corners you can do a fench drain in the basement with a sump pump pit. That should run you approx 8K. Good luck. I am flipping a house right now for some one I met on these message boards.

You're experiencing home foundation problems, they're probably caused by basement flooding, seepage or moisture buildup. Don't ignore water problems, since they can cause costly, extensive home damage. Even if you haven't suffered any current water damage, the best way to prevent future structural problems is to waterproof your basement and crawl space.
