I have been in a relationship with a great guy for 5 years, we have lived together 4 (I know, not the right thing to do). Anyway, he is good to me and takes care of me. We have discussed getting married several times but one of us always finds a reason not to.
I can't totally commit myself to him because I am still completely in love with my ex. We dated for about 6 years and I know he is my sould mate, we had so much in common and had so much fun together. When we broke up it was because both of us had some really bad stuff going on in our families and I had moved a few hours away to take care of my Grandmother. Then his Dad died and he met a girl and got married 3 months later, then immediately had a baby by accident. His wife treats him like crap and is so mean to him and his mom(which is precious and lives with him now).
We talk frequently on the phone and online. We have met several times and been intimate as well. When we were together we had a great sex life. And I have never had that with anyone else.
The problem is he is trying to make it work with his wife since he has a kid. And I definately don't want to break up a family and I would never ask him to leave her either. I know I should just get over it and move on but my heart hurts so bad from missing him. I know that in the past 5 years since we have been apart there isn't a day that goes by I don't think of him. I just miss him holding me and the way he kissed me. I will never find anyone as great as him that swepts me off my feet the way he did.
Please tell me how I can get over him, I have even tried to think of the bad parts of our relationship everytime I think of him and that doesn't work. I just want to be happy and get past the hope that he leaves his wife (which is an awful thought).
