Folklore or not how is are we suppsosed
to believe in something in which no
evidence exists? I mean why don't we
start believing in Werewolves or Vampires
they are in folklore also!

Dragons are an interesting subject but
the special is silly because they don't
say they are theorizing but just go right
on and say that they exist! The opening with
the men in armor and the 'dragon' I've seen
better 'archeoloigical footage' in Stargate!

I like discovery channel and TLC and AP but if
they are going to show programs like this
I am going to stop watching..

We have more 'evidence' of Loch Ness and Bigfoot
and even then most Scientists won't touch them
with a ten foot pole! Because they have been sensationalized and that is exactly what this show is doing..

Now why not use those 3D programs for a good cause?

Just stating my opinion.

As I stated in a topic in the other forum, the reason there is more evidence of the Bigfoot and Nessie is because they are more recent. As for scientist not researching them, there are some out there researching their existence, just not very many.
At the moment, those that are experts in dragons and any other mythical beasts are experts in mythology and folk lore because that is currently where knowledge about them lie.

And just an FYI, I learned a couple of years ago that in Dublin they actually offer a degree on Faeries. So why can't there be people out there that study dragons, unicorns, and any other mythical and mystical beings?

I have alwaysed belived dragons exsisted at some time in life. Just cause theres no evidence dosn't mean they never exsited. and Dragons are much more easly to belive then werewolves and stuff cause werewolves is a curse not an evalution. Same with vampiers their un dead for god sake there is nothing on this planet that is un killable so how the hell can they be real? Thats what i think.

I agree with Brim, I mean imagine the reaction when somone said there were creatures called Dinosaurs. No one would have beilieved it so it is more likly there was such thing as a dragon or something really similar.

I agree why isnt there more reseach on the world of mythological creatures. Legends had to come form somewhere, people have had to seen something. I think that some people lost touch with a dream/fantasy world and find it pointles to put money into research that could show up with no results.

Anyway, totally loving the special and curious if that fossil will go on display or lead to more search for more draogn fossil and theories.

Have fun all =D

But the special does show that dragons are scientifically possible as was shown with other examples in present date nature with animals of similar abilities.

It's to give everyone something to think about. To make the mythologies and legends more believable. Sort of like finding the evidence to support a myth without having direct evidence.

Help! I've been looking for it everywhere. It was not on at 8pm on animal planet on rogers in my area. It is not shown at 10 or any other time yet it has been being advertised all week. Obviously you have all seen it - why? why? why? yes I am in eastern standard time zone.

yes i know im quoting soemone who quoted me but anyway yea it does provide a look into the world of dragons but they made one giant error, and it isnt a what if unless you say dragons dotn exist and it was a simple, what about the americas, and austrial and indonesia, all those place would have dragons too yet they never said anything aboutthem, i also forgot to mention africa in which the people would be to scared to fight bakc i know i would the whole thing is cheap, and in chia they were worshiped not killed same with mongolia that means that in most of asia the dargons would not have killed by humans at all basicly killing their entier argument in one message on a thread.

The show is great. Kudos to Animal Planet for presenting something this well done on a mythological creature. The science behind the "fossil" is very interesting and realistic. The animation is the best I've ever seen and I've watched every movie with dragons ever made. I'm not sure I agree with all of the timelines given for the age of maturity, etc. though. But the fun of myths is that there's always room for theories. I do wish the story line would have been more upbeat rather than the extinction. All in all, you still get an A+ from this dragon lover!
